The Howie Games

#TheHowieGames | Wil Anderson is a hard man to categorise. He’s a comedian, tv host and producer, radio star, podcaster extraordinaire, sports fanatic, and plenty more.

But to me, Wil is one of my best mates from high school, so it’s really cool to have him on the show.

This is an episode about many things, with the central theme being… do a job you love.

From writing the school play, to his first stand-up gig, comedy in Alaska, the Boxing Day Test, the '89 granny, and plenty more, it's fair to say this is an ep to make you giggle. ❤️

#TheHowieGames | Beers with Stephen Fry, recollections of my first date, and pineapple on pizza goes existential...this is the Player Profile of the one and only Wil Anderson.

"The drums blew my mind. As a kid I thought, I'm doing this"

BANG!

#TheHowieGames | This is a huge coup for the show! Kevin Parker, AKA Tame Impala, is one of the biggest recording artists on the planet.

Kevin's story, from falling in love with the drums as a kid to general music superstardom, is a beauty!

A combination of creative brilliance, hard work, and preparedness to follow his own path, has led Kevin from releasing music for free on MySpace, to selling out venues around the world.

This is one very cool cat! Get your ears around this. It will give you a lift! ❤️

"It was probably the hardest two days of my life"

#TheHowieGames | Jessica Fox has competed at three Olympics, and is recognised as the GOAT of her sport, which is truly incredible at just 27 years of age.

But this isn’t simply the story of an athlete who just goes out an blows the competition away. This is a tale of how Jess had to overcome what she describes as “the toughest two days of her life”, to achieve the ultimate success.

Jess Fox is never beaten.

#TheHowieGames | Jess Fox is a goat of her sport. The dominant figure in slalom canoeing, she recently had all of Australia on their feet as she claimed her first Olympic gold medal. How good!

Jess's full ep drops next Thursday. Here is her chocolate lave cake-inspired player profile.

"My saving grace was I was completely oblivious to what other people expected me to do"

#TheHowieGames | Dan MacPherson is the type of person we love on this podcast.

When he is asked whether he can do something, he says 'yeah, no worries, I can do that', then goes and learns how to do it.

In Dan’s world, this involves things like as a teenager, stepping on to the Neighbours set as an actor, when he wasn’t really one at that point. It means saying yes to starring in musicals, then learning to sing. Being cast as an action figure, then working with special forces type dudes to learn how to fire guns and blow up buildings. Easy peasy!

This is an in-depth look at the life of an actor. From the lows of constant rejection at auditions to the thrill of landing the gig that takes your career to the next level…and plenty of sport as well!
