  • #106 - Chad Lewis - Former Pro Bowl Tight End Discusses NFL Career & Life After Football
    Guest Bio:
Over his collegiate career as a Cougar, Chad Lewis never failed to entertain and keep fans on their toes. The BYU walk-on started in 22 games and finished his BYU career as one of the best tight ends in the nation.

The catch that first piqued fans' interest in Lewis may have been his one-handed touchdown grab in the corner of the end zone against Ohio State in the 1993 Holiday Bowl. But Lewis didn't fail in maintaining that interest. In the 1996 Western Athletic Conference Championship Game in Las Vegas, Nev., Lewis caught a 13-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to help lead the Cougars to victory.

The tight end was known for his soaring vertical. Lewis, who also high-jumped on BYU's track and field team, blocked a total of five kicks throughout his collegiate career. In 1995 he blocked a PAT against San Diego State. The subsequently blocked field goals came in critical moments against New Mexico (1994), Notre Dame (1994), Colorado State (1993) and Air Force (1993).

During his senior year, Lewis led his team to a victory over Kansas State at the 1996 Cotton Bowl with five catches for 79 yards. That same year he finished the season second in touchdown receptions among the nation's tight ends with five. He was fifth nationally in receptions by a tight end (37) and ninth in receiving yardage (420).

Epitomizing the student-athlete, Lewis also worked hard academically. Lewis was a three-time Academic All-WAC selection and was named an Academic All-American in 1996. He also earned a spot on the College Football Association All-Academic Team.

Lewis ended his career at BYU having caught a pass in 24 consecutive games. The Cougar walk-on hauled in a total of 111 passes for 1,376 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Shortly after graduating in 1997 with a degree in communication studies, Lewis signed as a rookie free agent with the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles. The three-time Pro-Bowl selection led all NFL tight ends in 2000 with 69 catches, becoming the first Eagle to exceed the 50-catch plateau since 1989. In 2005, Lewis made an appearance with the Eagles in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots.

Lewis is married to former volleyball All-American and Cougar Club Hall of Fame Member Michele Fellows. They have five children. Currently, Lewis works in Utah and serves as the NFL's Ambassador to Southeast Asia, traveling to China, Taiwan, Thailand, and Singapore.

  • #105 - Reno Mahe - Former Philadelphia Eagle Player & BYU Receiver Discusses Life In The NFL & How He Is Expecting His 9th Child By 40
Mahe, a Cougar alum, returns to BYU after an NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles. He played running back and served as a return specialist for the Eagles, amassing 1,600 return yards in his five seasons. Mahe led the NFL in punt return average in 2005 and played in Super Bowl XXXIX as a member of the 2004 NFC Championship team.

“It is very humbling to have this opportunity,” Mahe said. “I’m excited to return to this unique and great university, and I’m grateful for the chance to contribute to the BYU football program coaching running backs.”

Tongan born and a Brighton High School product, Mahe played running back and receiver for the Cougars in 1998 and in the 2001-02 seasons after a stint at Dixie College where he led the nation in receiving with 57 receptions, 1,387 yards, and 19 touchdowns. He was named a Junior College Gridwire Second Team All-American.

Mahe was one of the best all-purpose players in Cougar history, totaling 166 receptions for eighth all-time, 2,163 receiving yards for 13th and is 11th in all-purpose yards with 3,417. His best season was as a junior in 2001 when he led the Mountain West Conference with 91 receptions, 1,211 yards, and nine touchdowns, earning all-conference honors.

He has coached at various football camps across the country since 2007, including the Ty Detmer Camp. Mahe serves on the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Board of Directors and has served on the Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors.

  • #104 - Kristin Bennion - Certified Sex Therapist Talks About The Problems Around Sexuality & How We Can Obtain The Sex Life We Want
    Guest Bio:
Kristin considers herself one of the luckiest people because she gets to earn a living doing exactly what she loves! As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Sex Therapist, she has the opportunity to work with individuals, couples, families, and groups. Many of the people coming to see her are wanting to improve specific concerns related to their emotional, psychological, sexual and spiritual well-being and experience. She strives to create a safe and collaborative environment in order to provide the support, education, and skill set for discussing her clients’ unique concerns. It’s not uncommon for her to hear feedback from clients that the process has been empowering and rewarding – providing them the pathway to desired insight and growth.

Kristin's journey as a therapist has taken her to many different settings, personally and professionally, in a relatively short time. Early in her professional development, she enjoyed working with a variety of mental health issues, but she quickly discovered a deep passion for working with sexuality, religious concerns, and the intersection of the two topics.

Before beginning her career as a therapist, she gained invaluable experience working as a case manager for a domestic violence shelter, serving on a homeless provider committee in Salt Lake City, and volunteering at the Rape Recovery Center through its Crisis Line and hospital response team. These experiences along with many others provided me with invaluable insight and clinical expertise in working with a spectrum of clinical topics.

In addition to running a practice and working with my clients, she decided to return to school and is working toward a Ph.D. in Human Sexuality after being out of grad school for nearly a decade. The knowledge she's gained thus far has only deepened on her understanding of sexuality and gender; issues which, she believes, can impact nearly everyone to one degree or another.

  • #103 - Todd Sylvester - Motivational Speaker Shares His Amazing Journey From Rock Bottom Drug Addict To Helping 1,000's To Recovery
    Guest Bio;
For the last 25 years, Todd has served as a Mentor & Personal Development Coach for those looking to get more out of life, move beyond limiting beliefs and overcome addictions. Todd is an experienced motivational speaker and has conducted over 300 speaking engagement at businesses, seminars, schools, churches and for youth groups.

Todd currently works as an Addictive Voice Recognition Counselor at an addiction recovery treatment center for those struggling with drug or alcohol addiction, where he provides one-on-one mentoring to both local and international clients. Described as having “a unique gift to develop trusting relationships quickly,” Todd has guided hundreds to sobriety and other behavioral successes through the individualized support he offers to each client. His ability to “speak to a person’s soul and help them find their true motive to change” has been the key for inspiring others to make permanent lifestyle changes.

Todd’s profound influence grew from his own personal experience — a journey from self-hatred and hopelessness to faith and recovery. At a young age, Todd was exposed to drugs and alcohol and quickly became addicted. Years of rampant drug abuse lead to devastating failures and a conclusion that his young life had nowhere left to go.

Change can come from the most unlikely of places. For Todd, that place was a neighborhood lemonade stand, when he made the spontaneous decision to become one little girl’s most generous customer. This simple act – and the positive reaction that came with it – provided Todd with a sense of hope that he had never felt before. Todd’s strengthening sense of purpose sparked a fervent determination to change his life and to prevent others from enduring the physical and emotional pain that had threatened his very existence. As he moved forward with newfound faith and a desire to serve others, Todd learned that the human soul – on fire – is more powerful than any addiction.

Today, Todd utilizes his firsthand fight against addiction to connect with fellow addicts on an authentic level and provide hope to thousands of teenagers, parents, and adults. His story was recently told through a popular YouTube clip titled “The Hope of God’s Light,” that received over 3 million views and has been translated into 3 languages.

Todd has been married to his sweetheart for 23 years. They have four children and live a happy, busy life together.
