It can be easy to get so caught up in the day-to-day busyness of our lives that we forget who we really are. Today, we’re going to be talking about how to get back to you. Then, I get to sit down with my good friend (and amazing Bible teacher) Kristi McLelland. Kristi has impacted my life in more ways than I can count. I just know you’ll love her. I want to end the show with a few questions to help you get to know God even better.

 

Do You Know Who God Is?

It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the busyness of life, isn’t it? You change the diapers, get the snacks, prep the lunches, and try to make it to the meetings. Then one day you stop, look up, and realize you’ve lost your spark or the thing that makes you you.

If you want to get back to you, you need to know four things:

1. Who God is
2. Who you are
3. Where you are
4. Where you're going

If you know these four things, and if you can reset and refocus, you can get back to you and the truth of who you are and who you were created to be. When you try to figure out who you are without having an accurate picture of God, it's like looking in a blurry mirror—you can't see yourself, and you can't see what you're doing now. You can never get back to you until you understand the one who created you.

 

How to Better Understand Who God Is with Kristi McLelland

Y’all, I’m so excited about today’s interview with Kristi McLelland. Kristi is a brilliant Bible teacher and loves to serve as the bridge between the Western world and the lands of the Bible. Kristi and I dive into the topic of who God is. We talk about:

• Asking yourself a specific question every time you read the Bible
• Posturing yourself to receive
• Believing that God is a Father who runs after you
• Meeting God in desert places

 

One Important Thing You Need to Know About God

“I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:18 (NIV)

This verse is such an amazing reminder that God isn’t this distant, critical, unkind God in heaven. He’s a dad. He's your dad. He loves you like a father loves a child. And regardless of what your relationship is like with your earthly father, your father in heaven is so far beyond anything you could ever imagine.

I want you to sit with these questions as you journal and pray about this and consider what it means for you:

1. What’s your relationship like with your earthly father?
2. How has that helped or hindered your relationship with your Heavenly Father?
3. What does God tell you about himself in His Word?
