On Christmas Eve of 2002, I vanished without a trace from my home in Modesto, California.  I was almost 8 months pregnant with my first child - a boy to be named Conner.  I was never seen alive again.  I want to tell you my story.

On April 29, 1992, Los Angeles and the surrounding areas erupted into violent rioting, unlike anyone of this generation had seen.  In the wake of the acquittals of the 4 LAPD officers who had beaten and kicked Rodney King more than a year earlier had set off a torrent of violence, attacks on innocent bystanders, looting, and arson that held Southern California under siege for 5 days.  Hear the story of the riots, the aftermath, the second trial of the officers, and where are they now.

The 1991 Beating Of Motorist Rodney King After A Traffic Stop By The LAPD

Rodney Glen King was caught speeding on the 210 freeway in the early morning hours of March 3, 1991.  He led officers on a brief high speed chase until he was finally cornered at an intersection in Lake View Terrace.  The LAPD took over command of the scene and 4 officers tased and beat Rodney a total of 56 times with their police batons, as well as kicks to the head and body.  We are going to talk about who Rodney King was, what happened to the officers who were charged with use of excessive force, leading up to the events that occurred following the fallout of the trial of the 4 officers charged with using excessive force -

The 2005 Disappearance And Murder Of Christie Wilson After A Night Of Gambling Perpetrated By Mario Garcia

Christie Lynn Wilson disappeared October 5, 2005 after a night of gambling at the Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln, California.  The 6 hours she spent at the blackjack tables was all documented on surveillance video, and she was seen in the company of an unknown older man who appeared to have taken a liking to Christie.  When their night was over, and the money was gone, the two of them walked out of the casino and into the parking lot.  A few minutes later, the unknown man is seen driving out of the parking lot…but Christie has seemingly vanished somewhere in that parking lot.  Where is Christie Wilson?

UPDATE:  In February of 2018, Killafornia Dreaming published a bonus episode on the 2005 disappearance of Christie Wilson.  Her remains were finally found in August of 2020 AND the man convicted of killing her, Mario Garcia died while serving life in prison of COVID-19.

The Bully And Shaming of Audrie Pott By Her Classmates Which Led To Her 2012 Death by Suicide

Audrie Pott, a 15 year old Northern California high school student, attended a house party Labor Day weekend of 2012, a few days before the start of her sophomore year. After passing out from heavy drinking, Audrie was stripped of her clothes, her body, including her genital areas, was drawn on all over using indelible sharpie markers with obscenities and she was sexually assaulted by three boys.  They also took photos and videos of the assault and distributed the images to all of their friends.  Eight days later, Audrie hanged herself from her bathroom shower.  Subject of the Netflix documentary “Audrie and Daisy”, today we delve into this story that takes a look at sexual assault, rape culture, social media, and the roles of men and women in perpetuating, as well as combating sexual violence in society.

UPDATE:  Last August, Daisy Coleman, 23, the rape survivor featured in the Netflix documentary Audrie & Daisy, was found dead by suicide in her home. In a devastating twist, nearly four months later, Daisy’s mother, Melinda — who initially posted about her daughter’s passing on Facebook — was also found dead by suicide at home, according to Rolling Stone.  Daisy passed away on August 4, 2020 and Melinda passed away on December 6, 2020.

The 2017 Disappearance Of Jonathan Reynoso And Audrey Moran Of Coachella, California

Coachella  Valley couple Jonathan Reynoso and Audrey Moran mysteriously disappeared the evening of May 10th, 2017.  Audrey told her sister she was leaving her home in Coachella to the town of Brawley, about an hour drive, to pick up Jonathan, her boyfriend and take him to his home in Palm Desert.  Doubt lingers as to whether or not Jonathan was ever in Brawley that night, and after the evening of the 10th, the couple were never seen or heard from again.

UPDATE:  Suspects have been arrested and charged with Jonathan and Audrey's murders, but their bodies have still yet to be found as of 2022.   Abraham Fregoso, 32, of Indio; Manuel Rios, 28, of Coachella; Aaron Bernal, 29, of Indio; Adilene Casteneda, 29, of Coachella; have been charged with murder and have pleaded not guilty. Eric Rios, 32 of Coachella and Jesus Ruiz Jr., 41, of Stockton pleaded guilty to charges of accessory after the fact.

The 2003 Murder Of Joy Risker By Her Polygamist Husband Sean Goff

In 2003 Joy Risker suddenly vanished without a trace from her home in San Diego, California.  Her husband, Sean Goff, told her friends and loved ones that she ran off to be with another man.  They even received emails from Joy, telling them that she was off, finding herself and to just leave her alone.  But something wasn’t sitting right with them.  They knew she wouldn’t just walk out on her children like this.  They knew her marriage was troubled.  Sean Goff was a polygamist and Joy was his junior wife and she grew tired of being a part of it.  She was ready to leave, but Goff would not let Joy tarnish his reputation as a spiritual leader in the polygamist community by walking out on him.

The 2018 Escape Of The 13 Children Of David And Louise Turpin From Being Held Captive In Their Perris, California House of Horrors

There is a breaking story out of Perris, California involving a married couple, David and Louise Turpin, charged with abuse and torture of their 13 children who the held captive in filthy conditions in the family home.  Listen now to some of the details that have emerged from this still developing story.

UPDATE:  The parents of the 13 children, Louise and David Turpin, were sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.  Some of their children had forgiven them, some haven't and might not ever be able to.  In 2021, two of the Turpin sisters gave their very first interview since being freed from captivity to Diane Sawyer on 20/20.  It has also come to light that some of the Turpin children were abused and mistreated AFTER they were saved while in foster care.
