The Murder Diaries

This week on the Murder Diaries, we're thrilled to have a very special guest who's been behind the scenes of some truly incredible podcasts, including some of the episodes of the Murder Diaries. Joining us today is our friend, Haley Gray, a dedicated researcher, storyteller, and advocate whose work has shaped many of the shows you know and love. Haley has contributed to the research of countless podcasts digging deep into the facts, uncovering hidden details, and ensuring these stories are told with the utmost accuracy and care. Haley is also one of the board members of The Bridegan Foundation, which brought the Bexley Box project to life. This non-profit was born as a result of the senseless murder of Jared Bridegan, a case we've covered here on the podcast, and it aims to provide support and resources to families impacted by violent crime. Haley is also involved with "Light the Way" an organization dedicated to guiding families through the overwhelming process of getting exposure for unresolved cases. Haley's work goes far beyond research though. She's committed to justice, advocacy, and helping others navigate difficult paths.

According to indianlaw.org “…More than 1 in 2 Native American women have experienced sexual violence. Though available data is limited, the number of missing and murdered American Indian and Alaska Native women and the lack of a diligent and adequate federal response is extremely alarming to indigenous women, tribal governments, and communities. On some reservations, indigenous women are murdered at more than ten times the national average. Statistics define the scale of the problem, but do nothing to convey the experience of the epidemic.”

Pepita Redhair is one of this Missing and murdered indigenous women. She went missing at the height of the global SARS CoV2 pandemic in March of 2020 for Albuquerque NM, where she lived with her boyfriend.

This is her story.

This week, Natalie & Paige tried to take things to the next level with video, emphasis on tried. Despite the tech hiccups (you’re stuck with audio, sorry!), the conversation is as off-the-cuff and entertaining as always.

They kick things off with major global news: the Vatican has a new Pope... and he’s American! Then it’s onto an eye-opening study linking golf courses to Parkinson’s disease. The ladies then dive into the world of MLMs, spotlighting a once-booming company that recently bit the dust. There’s also a juicy update on TLC’s Polyfamily, and to wrap it all up, they discuss the world’s first-ever 3D-printed Starbucks.

She was smart, beautiful, and athletic. At only nineteen, she had her whole life ahead of her and was full of potential. On the last day of September 2020, she Ubered from her hotel in the Financial District of San Francisco to the Golden Gate Bridge for an early morning jog. Even though the bridge was busy with other runners and walkers, surveillance cameras showed her disappear into the fog. She has never been seen again. The police deemed it a suicide. But her family refuses to believe it.

This is the story of Sydney West.

At the time of her disappearance, Sydney was 5’10, 130 lbs, with light brown hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information about Sydney West is asked to contact private investigator Scott Dudek at (925) 705-8328 or [email protected]
