The Outdoors Show

You bet…it’s that time of year once again. It’s snapper season – but don’t blink, ’cause you just might miss it. But if you’re willing to brave the ocean for your shot at a snapper or two, you do NOT want to miss this show. Get all the details, all the insight, and every tip Capt. Kevin and Capt. Ricky “Hollywood” Poupore can cram into a single episode!

But if Silly Snapper Season isn’t your bag, Capt. Kevin took care of you anyway; he called on another Unusual Suspect, Capt. Cory Sparks, to chime on what’s happening on the in-shore side of things.

Oh…and you might wanna listen for the weather forecast, too.

The gang was back in studio this week, and boy, did they have a bunch of stories to share! Everything from crazy birds and nasty hooks to boat ramp shenanigans galore…

And they weren’t alone! Marvin Hartley, the current president of the local chapter of the NWTF, was in to chat it up…and share all kinds of insight into the amazing organization, as well as their upcoming banquet.  The boys even gave a pair of tickets!

David Berg also checked in – he’s the Tournament Director of the Oh Snap! Red Snapper Fishing Tournament that’s happening next weekend, July 10-13. Sounds like a great one!

It’s kinda like being married – for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, for better or worse. How is it that everything was SO GOOD in May and June, and then everything goes down the toilet in July?!?!?!?!?!?

The OS World Tour 2025 continues on this episode, with Capt. Kevin and Capt. Kirk coming to you live with Tru Luvin’ Fishing’s Domenic Paniccia from Hagan Ace Hardware in Mandarin. Domenic was gearing up for his kayak fishing seminar, and there were plenty of great deals to talk about as well.

Jeff was doing some OSR in North Carolina, but he checked in to chat it up with the guys.

Capt. Kevin took the time on this episode to look back over the past couple of months and how great the fishing’s been – especially in June. Of course, the Unusual Suspects chimed in with their own thoughts about how it’s been, how it is, and how they hope it’s going to be.  Be sure to listen in for the forecast, so you can be sure you’re getting the kind of weather you’re hoping for.

With Jeff doing some OSR up in Georgia, Capt. Kevin and Capt. Kirk welcomed in Capt. Chip Wingo to talk outdoors…and that HEAT! Well, you know all about that – you’re probably sweating while you’re reading this. Anyway, Jeff did check in for a while, so there was a whole lot of great conversation happening! Anyway, as you would think, the talk was all about fishing – kingfish, of course – Paul Dozier checked in to catch us up on the results of the Old School Kingfish Shootout, and we got a update on the Kingbuster as well.

But there was more than just kingfish to talk about: Yvonne Norman recently earned a world record by catching a gargantuan African Pompano in St. Augustine, and she joined the show to talk about the experience! It was a great story and worth the price of admission for sure.

Finally, a big shout out to Cowfeathers Kitchen for dropping off some INCREDIBLE food at the studio!

It’s Old School Kingfish Shootout weekend…kinda like Christmas in June!  Capt. Kevin was on the water with his crew, so Dominic Panicia of Tru Luvin’ Fishing sat in with Capt. Kirk and Jeff to talk fishing – yep, kingfish-ing!

Throughout the episode, the guys checked in Paul Dozier, tournament organizer, Capt. Kevin (of course), and a host of participants (Mullethead, Capt. Chris Stevens, Capt. Ricky Poupore, Dave Edwards, and more) to get a feel for everything happening on the water. Exciting stuff!!!

Capt. Kevin has ONE thing on his mind this week…KINGFISH!  More accurately, he’s thinking about the Old School Kingfish Shootout, probably his favorite week of the year.  Listen in to find out why, get the scoop on everything Old School, and most importantly – get a bead on the weather for the weekend.

Jeff took off to do some pre-deer season OSR, so Capt. Kevin and Capt. Kirk called up Capt. Chip Wingo and they headed off to Arlington Bait & Tackle!  Lots of great stuff going on there – amazing selection, amazing deals, and all kinds of fun raffle prizes to boot.

As you can imagine, there was all kinds of fishing talk – Old School anticipation, more snapper reg pain, a massive hammerhead sighting, and of course, all the fantastic things happening at AB&T!
