The key word this week? FULL.
First off, the studio was full for the last time, because deer season is going to be the reason either Jeff, Kevin or Kirk will be out doing some OSR.
Second, everybody’s bellies were full, thanks to food from Kirk, Chef Gordon and our friends at Moe’s Southwest Grill – St. Augustine! this week
Finally, the show was full of great fishing and hunting stories, tips and tricks…in other words, what you’ve come to expect from the Outdoors Show!
Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: Ball Leak-Proof Lids! After you open a sealed canning jar, try these leak proof lids. Much better than using the original lid and band.
Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week: Moe’s Southwest Grill’s fan fave Homewrecker burrito is going GRANDE!! “Good Times, Bad Times” isn’t just the name of a Led Zeppelin song. The captains three – Capt. Kevin, Capt. Scott and Capt. Ricky – talked about their week, and what a mix of good days and bad days it really was. Perfect days wound up stinking, and the goofy days wound up good. Well, that’s what makes it so addictive, right?
Anyway, the guys swap stories and share some insights into the forecast, so listen in to find out whether you’re going to have your own good times or bad times this week.
With deer season right around the corner, the guys had bucks on the brain. Food plots, stands, shooting lanes, and everything that goes along with it…and some stuff that didn’t seem to fit AT ALL. Sure, maybe yellow flies are related, but how did we get into talk about triangles? That’s right – GEOMETRY made the Outdoors Show…and it wasn’t pretty.
But it wasn’t all about hunting, especially with the mullet running around and anglers having a blast hooking up with tarpon. There’s good fishing to be had inshore, in the surf, and offshore too (when the weather cooperates), and the guys talk all about it.
Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week from Captain Kevin: Captains Choice Tackle rigs are perfect for this time of year. The surf fishing is at its peak with the mullet run going on. The double whiting rigs with 2/0 circles can also be used with a live mullet or a piece of cut mullet! Now available at ALL Hagan Coastal Outfitters locations including the new fishing and marine section at Mandarin!

Sometimes, you just have high hopes. Sometimes, you try to read the tea leaves, and things really look promising. Sometimes, you set some expectations that seem to be right on the money.
And then life happens, and Mother Nature points at you and laughs.
Capt. Kevin and Capt. Scott, along with a bunch of other First Coast anglers, had some really high hopes for a great September. Well, if you pause this episode of the Moe’s Southwest Grill Fishing Forecast, you’ll probably Mother Nature cackling at the boys.
Things have just been disappointing to this point…but listen in to see if they think things could turn around…and Mother Nature can pipe down.
The gang was back in full force this week – Jeff made his return from Georgia, and Chris made his return from a knock-down drag-out with COVID. And with the boys all back in town, it was time to talk hunting preparations, fishing fun and food, glorious food!
Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: Jeff’s favorite new find for the cooler! He says Cooler Shock ice packs stay cold for a LONG time! On Amazon $31.00 for XL pack of 3.
Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week: This is the time of year people are in the woods checking on stands and prepping for hunting season. It’s also a great time of year to invest in a quality pair of snake boots! Listen in to find out the guys’ favorites.
Here’s your Kirbyco Builders Inc. cooking tip of the week: Captain Kirk’s favorite new BBQ sauce. Swamp Boys Original…just $5.99 at Publix!
This week was all about big time stuff – lots of choices for fishing, as the weather continued to be great for in-shore, surf and off-shore. Turns out there was still time to hook a king or a sail in addition to everything else everywhere else. The key to this show is listening to Capt. Kevin and Capt. Scott to find out if the big time conditions last…
In case you didn’t notice, Capt. Ricky wasn’t mentioned…and why? Well, he big-timed Kevin and Scott this week. Listen in to find out why!
Jeff was back up in Georgia again this week (who can blame him), but through the wonders of modern technology, he was able to hang out with Capt. Kevin and Capt. Kirk to talk about the INCREDIBLE weather that greeted them this morning. It was a beautiful day, and provided the perfect backdrop to talk about getting ready for bow season, as well as talking about the upcoming mullet run.
Well, September has arrived, and that means we’re watching for a nor’easter. Why? Well, according to Capt. Scott and Capt. Ricky, that means the mullet aren’t far behind. Capt. Kevin would have agreed, of course, but he was out doing some OSR (or so we’re told).
Listen in to find out how close we are to the big shift, and see how your week on the water is going to turn out on this episode.
Some men are talkers, some men are walkers. Some men talk a good game, while others play a good game. Some men are cunning linguists, while others…well, they’re not. Captain Kirk is most certainly one of the latter, and this episode proved it. Don’t understand? Well, you’ll get it around 1:47:00 or so.
Anyway, aside from a significant tongue blunder, this show had everything you could ask for in terms of the outdoors, from fishing tips and tales, to some great property management, to a really cool gator hunting story!
Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: Captain Kirk bought 2 new Folding/Pruner saws from Flora Guard this week. They are really nice! Heavy duty with rubber handles and right at $10 a piece on Amazon! Click HERE to check it out

With Capt. Scott away from the Fishing Forecast St. Augustine studios, Capt. Kevin and Capt. Ricky held down the fort to talk about some stranger things. No, not a super-weird Netflix series, but the time of year where we have our own First Coast version of the transition from summer into fall. Yeah, it’s still brutally hot and the water is still really warm, but there are some pretty big changes starting to happen in our local waters. Get the rundown on that, as well as the forecast to navigate through all this strange stuff and land yourself some nice fish!
