  • The Panel with Nevil Gibson and Paula Penfold (Part 1)
A forensic expert will be brought into the investigation into who leaked Simon Bridges' travel expenses. National MPs have signed a waiver allowing access to their computer systems, as has the general manager of the Parliamentary Service. It seems it's just a matter of time before th eperosn is caught. The panelists, both journalists, weigh in on what they think of this investigation, and whether it will have a chilling effect on whistleblowers. Media have been banned from the grounds of Turangawaewae Marae at Ngaruawahia this weekend for the anniversay celebration of Kingi Tuheitia's koroneihana. It's the first time such a ban has been put in place and comes after a scathing letter was written about the spending of an advisor to the King. • The Panel with Nevil Gibson and Paula Penfold (Part 2)
Vienna is officially the best place in the world to live, but New Zealand isn't in the Top Ten. Auckland has dropped down to number 12. Melbourne has also dropped down to number 2, after 7 years in the top spot. But is the criteria really? What makes a good city? We ask the panelists what they look for in their cities. What the Panelists Nevil Gibson and Paula Penfold want to talk about. Hotels are more frequently ditching the traditional Gideons Bible in the bedside table. Millennial apathy is being blamed for the uninterest in the text. In 2006, 95 per cent of US hotels has a bible next to the bed, that dropped to 79 per cent in 2017, according to Pew Research. One hotel in the UK swapped the bible out for copies of Fifty Shades of Grey. The panelists giev their view on getting rid of the bible, and they would like to replace it with. A blast in Kabul has killed more than 40 people today, many of them teenagers. The assault is just oen in a spate of recent attacks in the country. While the Taliban has denied responsibility for this attack, they've launched other lately, seemingly in a show of force as talks with the US are on the horizon. We ask the panelists if we'll ever see the back of this war. Figures released by police today show family violence is on the rise, but prosecutions are down. Police launched 121,739 investigations last year, but there were just 16,764 prosecutions. That's down on previous years. Pauline Gulliver, a research fellow at the University of Auckland, who works with the New Zealand Family Violence Clearinghouse, tells us whether this is a trend or an aberration.
