Animals--abandoned by private individuals who have fled their invaded country--are on the streets of Ukraine. PETA Germany has gone to the border of Ukraine and Poland to help people and their animals there. Less than a week after the Russian invasion began, more than 800,000 Ukranians have fled the country to seek safety. Some have brought their animals. But many did not.
Now PETA Germany volunteers are going into Ukraine to save as many animals as they can, and bring them to safety.
PETA is also giving out 40,000 pounds of dog food to make sure hungry animals can be fed.
PETA Germany investigator Judith Peine talked with Emil Guillermo about what it's like to be at the western border of Ukraine now.

Lolita, is the light of animal lovers everywhere, is one of the oldest Orcas in captivity. Just four when she was caught off Penn Cove in Washington, Lolita was sold into the animal entertainment industry since 1970. For more than 52 years, this 20-foot animal has been confined at Miami's Seaquarium, the last 40 years without an Orca companion. In February, a whistleblower told PETA Lolita has life-threatening pneumonia. What is PETA doing about it?
PETA's Jared Goodman, VP and General Counsel, talked with Emil Guillermo.

Monkeys used in brain chip experiments by Musk-owned Neuralink were so badly abused they had to be put to death, according to documents obtained by the Physicians' Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). Last week,PCRM filed a lawsuit to get more from UC Davis, which worked with Neuralink from 2017-2020. This is the best chance to find out more about the experiments since Neuralink has moved from UC Davis to a private facility to avoid transparency and accountabililty.
Jeremy Beckham, a researcher with PCRM, talks with Emil Guillermo about how the brain chip idea is an old idea spun with a new fantasy, and how all of it is still relying on monkeys subjected to abusive and inhumane treatment.

PETA's Brittany Peet, Deputy General Counsel for Captive Animal Law Enforcement talks to Emil Guillermo about Joe Exotic's resentencing. The Year of the Tiger did not bring good luck to the Tiger King, known in real life as Joe Maldonado Passage. Convicted in a murder-for-hire scheme, Passage got his sentence reduced from 22 to 21 years. Peet talks about how the impact of the Netflix series helped PETA's work to shut down the tiger cub petting industry. She also talks about the new focus, bear cub petting, and how to stop the abuse at roadside zoos. Another success story has been Dolly the Bear, the 76th bear rescued by PETA. CALE found her at a defunct roadside zoo.

Will loose monkeys sink the profitable international lab monkey business in the U.S. Dr. Lisa Jones-Engel, PETA Science Advisor and a one-time primatologist with the National Primate Research Center, talks to Emil Guillermo about the recent Pennsylvania truck accident where four monkeys escaped, possibly infecting the public with viruses and diseases. The monkeys had just flown in from Mauritius and had yet to be quarantined. Jones-Engel says tens of thousands of monkeys are transported each year and are public health hazards waiting to happen.

The pig heart transplant grabbed headlines, but was it good science? Another experiment involving transgender monkeys also gained attention. PETA Sr.VP Kathy Guillermo breaks down the animal rights perspective on both stories and explains how both projects are wasteful and dangerous. She also explains how much more can be done without experimentation on animals if the nation adopted the scientific approaches outlined by PETA's Research Modernization Deal.

Cold Dogs, Old Tricks. Protest works, at least in Missaukee County, Michigan. More than 40 Jack Russell Terriers were left out in the cold at the breeding facility of John Jones for days. A PETA undercover investigator documented the abuse. But the sheriff's office did nothing to save the dogs. That's when Jonathan Horn and Tricia Lebkuecher led a small band of PETA protestors who stood up to the authorities for four days until the dogs were removed from the cold. Find out how they did it, and how the protest was won.

Following a PETA undercover investigation, the Washington Post further exposed animal mistreatment at the Envigo dog breeding facility. The USDA has cited Envigo with multiple violations. And where do the dogs of Envigo end up? The journey is only beginning as the dogs are sold to researchers and scientists, many of whom are funded by NIH. They will use the animals in cruel, non-productive research, discarding the animals when they are no longer useful. Jeremy Beckham talks to Emil Guillermo about the vivisection hell that the animals are subjected to.
