In this episode, Dr. Jamal talks about his 6 step process in how to address one of the main things that get in the way of a provider giving care to themselves, not enough time or energy. The cliffnotes are below but each of these deserves even more depth. Enjoy!
Step 1: Find the edge
What does that look like for you? What is enough? What is your line in the sand? When will you finally be like, something needs to change? Headaches? Burntout? Depression? Impacting the family? If you don’t define your rock bottom or your enough, then it’ll allow for continuously cycling things until you do or until you’re driven into the ground.
Step 2: Identify the demands
Make a list!! Write out everything; professionally, family/relationships,, self,
Step 3: Prioritize
In accordance with what is most important* You dont have to do all the things!!! You dont have to do everything. One thing with providers that i haven’t gotten into is that you’re a leader. Amazing leaders I think are amazing delegators. It takes high level awareness of self, others and the unit or organism as whole.
Step 4: Allocate
Your resources and resourcefulness. Partners, CEOs, teams, friends, family. Who can you ask for help? Who can you offload this massive list? Can you find it?
Step 5: Debrief
Reflect!! How can we improve! How can we get better? How did things go? Allow yourself to let go, decentralized command
Creating more space for yourself to BE more**
Step 6: Intention
How do you want this progress to continue? Set the compass. Where do you want to go? How do you want to continue?

In this episode Dr. Jamal shares about his vision on where he sees the world going when more providers are provided for.
What is a provider? Someone who is able to help meet the needs of other human beings. Autonomy, safety, love, etc!
800,000 nurses are projected to leave the workforce within the next few years. This is a symptom that things aren't working. We have to do better.
$200 Million goes to employee turnover yearly in healthcare!
