Jessie Mannisto and Julia Malott joined me for a discussion about how
different perspectives on the trans issue are creating divisions in the
larger "gender-critical" conversation, and how we can come together to
identify and pursue common goals.
Jessie Mannisto is the founder of Third Factor, a magazine, podcast, and
community for intellectually energetic questioners seeking the higher
path in life. She is also a former CIA analyst, an editor at Genspect,
and a trainee debate chair for Braver Angels, where she sometimes
confuses people about whether she is a "red" or a "blue."

Julia Malott is a transgender woman from Toronto, Canada and creator of

November 23, 2023 Fatness in Libraries: Cultivation of Victimhood and Weaponization of Empathy, with Jenny Rogers
Jenny and I discuss a video presentation that was sent to me by a

In this training, a "fat-liberation" activist/advocate presents
responses to a survey she took of librarians who are "fat" and also
selected for other diversity criteria. She reads their responses, which
describe difficulties they experience at work due to their physical
size and/or their self-consciousness, while encouraging the audience to
see them as victims of oppression, feel indignation on their behalf, and
"advocate" for them, in true Social Justice Activist style. This is an
excellent example of the weaponization of empathy.

November 17, 2023 Social Justice Counseling is Malpractice, with Aaron Kindsvatter and Suzannah Alexander
Dr. Aaron Kindsvatter is a former professor of counselor education. Not
long ago he left his tenured position to start a private practice in
Burlington Vermont. He has been outspoken in sharing his experiences,
insights, and analysis about the politicization of counselor education.

Suzannah Alexander was a student in the University of Tennessee’s
Clinical Mental Health Counselor program from Aug 2022 through January
2023 when she withdrew from the program after being barred from
Practicum despite earning 3As and a B.
Her experience of being
subjected to struggle sessions and discriminated against for her
Buddhist practice and being white is detailed on YouTube. She has since
spoken out and is now a volunteer at the Foundation Against Intolerance
and Racism.
She is also a single homeschooling parent of four,
makes art work, writes online and has a background in volunteer
leadership and peer support going back 30 years.

November 16, 2023 Overcoming Wokeness: a Framework
Overcoming Wokeness at work/school: a Strategic Plan
1- Establish a non-woke reference group for the sanity check and human
connection. Don't underestimate the importance of this.
2- Clarify your goals: now that you are here, what would you like to see
happen, and what is realistic for you? Change jobs? Get to
retirement/graduation without conflict? Protect your kids from gender
ideology at school?
3- Build a strategy to get from where you are now to where you want to
be. Break it down into a series of manageable steps and take it one
step at a time.
4- Don't violate your conscience or compromise your values. Remember
the value of humanity and of individuality, even as social justice
ideology tries to convince you that individuality does not matter. Have
the humility to recognize that we are all subject to human nature, and
even when people are dangerously wrong, they are individuals just like
you, and you make mistakes, too.

Phil Illy is the author of Autoheterosexual: Attracted to Being the
Other Sex, a science book about autogynephilia and autoandrophilia.
Illy's book explains the psychology of cross-gender attraction so that
autoheterosexuals can better understand their gender feelings, jettison
shame, and make more fully informed decisions regarding gender
transition.

Michael Dewan-Herrick is a psychotherapist and a life coach in private
practice in London. He earned a BA in Cultural Anthropology from the
University of Colorado and an MA in Contemplative Psychotherapy from
Naropa University. His career in the mental health field spans over
40years and includes working in many different settings and modalities.
Since moving to the UK from the US in 2008 he has also been a teacher
for 10 years at an integrative psychotherapy training program called The
Minster Centre in London. While there he also taught a course titled
“Diversity” for 5 years. He created the curriculum for this course based
on his long study of integral theory per Ken Wilber. In his spare time
he enjoys learning to playjazz piano and making digital art.
