We were joined today by Dr. Bret Alderman for a discussion of the
effects of pornography use. I tried to reach out to the author of the
book Your Brain on Porn, which has been an incredible resource for many
young men (and some women, too) who feel their porn use has gotten out
of control. I received the following email in response:
"Thanks for your message. Unfortunately, Gary died in 2021, and we don't
have anyone else to propose. The attacks of the industry on those
critical of today's porn have become so extreme that most people dare
not speak up. These papers will give you some idea of the situation:

The truth is just as disturbing as ever, but seldom seems to find its

More on Dr. Alderman: Bret Alderman is an author and life coach who
received his PhD in depth psychology in 2013 from the Pacifica Graduate
Institute in Carpinteria, California. His first book Symptom, Symbol,
and the Other of Language explores the linguistic turn and the concept
of linguistic reference from a depth psychological perspective. His most
recent book Eternal Youth and the Myth of Deconstruction addresses
deconstruction as it appears in the works of Jacques Derrida and Judith
Butler as an expression of an archetypal disposition. His recent
interests include ideological possession, deconstruction, gender, and
the interface between psychology and philosophy.
