This podcast episode summarizes Richard Aceves and Dr. Ed's activities since their last podcast in August. They discuss Richard's assessments, seminars and experiences in the UK, Iceland, and Australia. Richard shares insights he's gained about how emotions are stored in the muscles and controlling DMT release through breathwork and movement. They discuss building coherence across body systems and the benefits of psychedelics when guided properly. Richard emphasizes creating safety to allow vulnerability and resolving issues actively rather than relying on external fixes. Overall it covers Richard's ongoing efforts to understand the body and help people through addressing the whole human experience.
This podcast discusses various topics related to movement, exercise, and wellness. Richard Aceves and Dr. Ed talk about Richard's recent clients and how he helps them connect with their body through movement. They discuss the benefits but also potential downsides of ice baths, and how removing a stimulus like ice baths could lead to withdrawal symptoms. They also talk about creating order in the nervous system and finding active ways to do so rather than passive methods. Richard shares some of his training experiences using a new approach of focusing on muscle contractions. Overall it was a discussion of different training philosophies and ways movement can impact the mind and body.
Benjy started his coaching career at a commercial gym where he worked as a personal trainer. He wanted to learn a more holistic approach to movement and strength training and came across Richard's content which led him to join their mentoring program. Two years ago, Benjy started training clients at a CrossFit gym, and six months ago, he took over ownership of the gym. Since then, he has implemented oblique openers, warm-up songs, and community events to build a strong community. In the future, he wants to grow as a coach by doing more assessments and helping clients with pain and mobility issues. He also wants to introduce sandbags and teach clients how to self-regulate their workouts.
Richard talks about learning new concepts about how the environment affects muscle tension. They debate the side effects of anti-inflammatory medications and how movement and neural output can help regulate the body instead. Dr. Ed prefers testing to tailor individual solutions for clients, while Richard focuses more on human connection. Dr. Ed explains different types of magnesium supplements and how they work differently in the body. They joke about hunting mice and cooking meals for Feast Friday, a hashtag Richard promotes.
