Each Monday Canadian Running Staff writer Maddy Kelly and Shakeout host Kate Van Buskirk bring you a weekly recap of the news, results and drama from the exciting world of running. This is The Rundown.
[00:32] This week we start by paying tribute to Megan Brown in light of the recent Globe and Mail article detailing the years of abuse she suffered in Guelph. Megan and the others who came froward in the article demonstrated great bravery, and we thank them.
[06:07] The Vancouver First Half-Marathon and the Mesa Half-Marathon saw speedy performances by our Canucks.
[12:22] Gabriela DeBues-Stafford smashed not one, but TWO Canadian records over the weekend. She ran a 1500m record en route to a 1 mile record at The Millrose Games. The meet also saw brilliant results by a number of Canadians, including 3000m victor Justyn Knight.
[18:15] On the trails Alberta's Ailsa MacDonald won New Zealand's Tarawera 100-mile ultra, more than 4 hours ahead of the next female finisher!
