  • Advantage Spurs & Newcastle in EFL Cup, plus FA Cup 3rd round and West Ham pick Potter

Jimbo, Michael Cox, Duncan Alexander and Jay Harris cast their collective eye over a very big week of football.

Tottenham inflict a rare defeat on Arne Slot’s Liverpool as they take a 1-0 lead to Anfield in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals in a month’s time. Can they reach the final and did Ange have a point about VAR?

Newcastle get a dream 2-0 win at the Emirates in their first leg. Have Arsenal gone backwards this season and do the Magpies have any weaknesses right now?

Big week at West Ham as The Athletic’s Roshane Thomas tells us. Julen Lopetegui is replaced as head coach by Graham Potter, someone with a point to prove after his 7 month spell at Chelsea.

And it’s FA Cup 3rd round weekend. Arsenal v Man United is the standout tie. Or is it non-league Tamworth against Spurs? How many ties is Ashley Young linked to? Those questions answered and more.

    Produced by Charlie Jones.

  • Pulisic inspires in the Supercoppa as the Dani Olmo saga continues

Jimbo’s back for the first time in 2025 and he’s got James Horncastle, Pol Ballús and Julien Laurens alongside him to run the rule over all the latest action from across Europe.

AC Milan kicked off the new year in style as they fought back from 2-0 down to beat rivals Inter 3-2 in the Supercoppa over in Saudi Arabia as new boss Sérgio Conceição got off to the perfect start. Meanwhile, back on home soil Roma continued their resurgence under Claudio Ranieri with a 2-0 victory in the derby with Lazio.

In La Liga the Dani Olmo debacle rumbles on… He’s with Barcelona in Saudi Arabia, but he’s not eligible to play after Spain's football authorities rejected the club’s attempt to register the midfielder. On the pitch, Jude Bellingham atoned for his missed penalty with a 95th-minute winner as 10-man Real Madrid snatched a dramatic victory at Valencia to move top of the table.

And in France, PSG picked up the first silverware of the season courtesy of Ousmane Dembele’s stoppage-time winner in their 1-0 victory over Monaco in the Trophée des Champions over in Doha. Back in Ligue 1, Marseille closed the gap at the top of the table to 7 points courtesy of their big 5-1 win over Le Havre.

No German action to speak of as die Winterpause continues - BUT we do have Dortmund v Leverkusen to look forward to on Friday night as the Bundesliga finally returns.

    Produced by Lucy Oliva.

  • Atletico and Atalanta top the tree, plus our 2024 highlights

Jimbo’s got his festive friends alongside him as Julien Laurens, James Horncastle and Pol Ballús bring the pre-Christmas cheer and reflect on all the action from across the continent.

There was late, late drama in La Liga as Alexander Sørloth’s 96th minute goal made it 12 wins in a row for new league leaders Atleti following a 2-1 victory over Barcelona - who are down to third and in their worst run of form for over 20 years. Elsewhere, a certain Kylian Mbappé’s starting to look pretty good for Real Madrid…

It was all about the Coupe de France in, well, France - including humiliation for Montpellier at the hands of fourth tier Le Puy Foot, memorable penalty saves and disappointment for Andy Carroll.

Meanwhile in the Bundesliga it looks like we’ve got a two-horse race on our hands for the title, as Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen both registered big 5-1 wins to keep things nicely poised heading into die Winterpause.

And it’s even tighter in Serie A, with Napoli just two points behind Atalanta -  the leaders having extended their winning run to 11 straight games in a tight 3-2 victory at Empoli.

Plus, we say goodbye to 2024 with some… potentially unconventional picks for our best moments of the past 12 months.

    Produced by Lucy Oliva.

    RUNNING ORDER:

    • PART 1: Moment of the weekend, festive plans and Christmas food (00.40)

Jimbo is joined by Daniel Storey, Matt Davies-Adams and a host of festive friends after another enthralling Premier League weekend.

It’s box-office at Spurs again as league leaders Liverpool win 6-3 in North London. Are we normalising the incredible achievements of Arne Slot? And how long does Ange have left?

Man City are in 7th place, a full 12 points off top spot after yet another defeat at Villa. Are they paying for a lack of future-proofing?

Tim Spiers and Charlotte Harpur watch a couple of incredible 3-0 away wins for Wolves at the King Power and Bournemouth at Old Trafford. Should Ruben Amorim have taken the United job?

Plus who are Forest’s biggest challengers for 4th? And what’s going on at Swindon?

Will Man City sink further into the mire at Villa Park? And whose fault is their wretched run?

  • Inter hit Lazio for six as Barca lose again in La Liga

Jimbo’s joined by his continental crew - James Horncastle, Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús and Seb Stafford-Bloor - to look back on the latest week of action from across Europe.

Atletico Madrid took advantage of their faltering rivals Barcelona and Real with a 1-0 win over Getafe to move level on points with Hansi Flick’s side at the top of the table - and with a game in hand. That’s after Barca’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Leganes, while Carlo Ancelotti’s men were held 3-3 by Rayo Vallecano.

It’s just as exciting over in Italy, with Atalanta flying high after their historic 10th consecutive league win. Napoli got back to winning ways to sit two points behind, while Inter also kept up the pressure with a statement 6-0 win over Lazio on Monday night.

In the Bundesliga Bayern tasted defeat for the first time courtesy of a lacklustre 2-1 loss at bogey side Mainz, meaning Leverkusen closed the gap to four points courtesy of a 2-0 win at Augsburg. Plus, are Leipzig in the process of getting their season back on track?

And in Ligue 1, PSG remain unbeaten and sit seven points ahead of the rest of the pack after their 3-1 win over Lyon. Elsewhere Lille extended their unbeaten run to 16 games in all competitions courtesy of a late 1-1 draw with Marseille, their longest unbeaten run for 51 years.

    Produced by Lucy Oliva.

The Manchester derby is won in sensational fashion by Man United with two late goals and Amad Diallo lighting up a drab derby. Is Man City’s place in the top 4 at serous risk?

Two managers lose their jobs on Sunday. Gary O’Neil after Wolves’ apocalyptic defeat against Ipswich, and Russell Martin after Southampton’s mauling by Tottenham.

Elsewhere Matt Davies-Adams watched Chelsea close the gap on Liverpool to just 2 points. But it’s a good weekend for the league leaders who rescue a draw with 10 men, while Arsenal draw a blank against Everton.

Oh and Forest are in the top 4 after their own late comeback against Aston Villa.
