The Trial: Russell Brand

In January 2023, Constance Marten and Mark Gordon went on the run with their newborn baby Victoria. After a nationwide hunt, the couple were found. Two days later, so was the body of Victoria.

Last year a jury found the pair guilty of concealing the birth of a child and perverting the course of justice. However, unable to reach a verdict on the charge of manslaughter, the jury was discharged. Constance Marten and Mark Gordon have faced a retrial on this charge, and today, Caroline and Jack can finally bring you the verdict.

Listen to the full episode, 'Constance Marten and Mark Gordon - The Verdict’, wherever you get your podcasts.

This week Caroline and Jack will also be bringing you a three part series exclusively to Trial+. They will be delving into the background of Constance Marten and Mark Gordon; details we couldn't bring you until now.

In this episode, Caroline and Jack bring you the prosecution opening in the trial of a 15-year-old accused of murdering a fellow pupil, Harvey Willgoose, at a school in Sheffield in February 2025.

The attack happened in the school courtyard just minutes into the lunch break. The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has admitted Harvey’s manslaughter, but denies murder - saying he suffered from a loss of control which his lawyers have claimed was the end result of a long period of bullying.

He says he was involved in the heist but it wasn’t his idea and he did none of the planning. He claims a man known as X was in charge.

We also have the evidence from another defendant who said he was aware of the Hollywood actor Kim Basinger but said he didn’t know who Kim Kardashian was.
