My guest today is Steve Gregory, CEO of the US Branch of Currency.com. Currency.com is a high-growth, crypto-asset platform helping everyone securely connect with the booming world of cryptocurrencies to buy, sell or trade digital assets. Steve has extensive working experience in the digital currency space and is an expert in the legal area. Before joining Currency.com, he was previously the Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Counsel at CEX.IO, another crypto exchange. Based in New York, he also spent more than two years as a Compliance Officer at the Winklevoss-twins established crypto exchange and custodian Gemini and played a crucial role in the company’s US expansion. He started his legal practice in 2007 and spent time with several law firms. Steve is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the US branch of Currency.com. In our conversation, we discuss with a wide range of topics including the regulatory nuances of digital assets domestically and abroad, DeFi, and the growth of industry. Steve discusses the transformation of the industry from when joined in 2016 to now and he gives advice for people aspiring to make the jump into the crypto industry. We discuss why crypto startups face larger regulatory burdens in the United States than in other parts of the globe. We also discuss the growth of DeFi and how crypto has found product market fit with DeFi. We finish our conversation discussing how Currency.com is making it easier for the average person who is not crypto-native interact and trade crypto.
