Finances matter. We don't get taught the business side in medical school or residency.
On this episode of The Worthy Physician, host Dr. Sapna Shah-Haque is joined by medical business consultant Julie Quinn to discuss the importance of medical billing for healthcare practitioners. Quinn explains that while providers give bedside care, they also have the overhead of running an office, staff, supplies, and insurance, making it extremely expensive to be a healthcare provider. She emphasizes the importance of having accounts receivable, that is efficient, to keep the doors open and ensure that reimbursement comes in at a later time. The episode highlights the challenges of reimbursement and the role of insurance companies in the process.
Listeners gain insights into the business side of healthcare and the importance of effective medical billing practices.

Listening is a crucial aspect of effective communication and interpersonal relationships. It is important to actively listen to others without interrupting or making assumptions, in order to fully understand their perspectives and feelings. This can help to build trust and empathy, and create more meaningful connections between individuals.
Healing through poetry is a powerful tool that has been used for centuries. Poetry can offer a safe space for individuals to express their emotions and experiences, and can be a means of catharsis and self-reflection. It can also provide a sense of comfort, validation, and connection to others who have had similar experiences. Through the use of metaphors, imagery, and symbolism, poetry can evoke deep emotions and allow individuals to process and heal from trauma and pain.
When combined, the practice of active listening and poetry can create a transformative and healing experience for individuals. Engaging in active listening while someone shares their poetry can create a space of validation and understanding, allowing individuals to feel seen and heard.

Welcome to another episode of The Worthy Physician.
The term "rat race" refers to a competitive and stressful way of life in which people are relentlessly pursuing wealth, status, or success, often at the expense of their own well-being and values. It is usually associated with a fast-paced, high-pressure work environment in which individuals feel the need to constantly strive, hustle, and compete to get ahead. The term is often used to denote a sense of futility and emptiness that characterizes a life locked in this kind of race.
On this episode, we discuss two quick tips and strategies for getting out of the rat race. In the words of Queen, "I want to break free."
This week, I'll be releasing an episode featuring Dr. Muller and her journey through burnout and how she is now thriving!

Physicians face a great deal of pressure as they work long hours, handle a high volume of patients, and deal with complex medical cases. In addition to these stressors, physicians are also expected to maintain a high level of professional conduct, provide outstanding patient care, and manage their personal lives. These expectations, when combined with feelings of isolation and burnout, can lead to physician suicide.
The medical community has only recently started to address this issue. It has been suggested that physician suicide is more of an occupational hazard than a health problem, and therefore requires an evidence-based, comprehensive approach.
