Tiny Victories

This week we have two tiny victories to share! Chris from Mt. Shasta recounts his life & death struggle with the Corona virus, and why he believes he owes his recovery to the care of his nurse, Justin. Plus, do you know what your cats are up to when they’re not around? If they happen to be named Nicky, Gwen or Maggie, listener Emily might clear that mystery up for you.

**This episode deals with end of life issues and loss. For anyone who is especially sensitive to this subject matter right now, you may want to bookmark this episode to listen at another time.**

This week, Laura tells us about finding an unlikely joy in one of the most difficult times of her life, and she has Victoria to thank for it.

This week Annabelle tells us about a novel way that she–and lots of women–have dealt with rage in the time of COVID. It involves a tire iron and protective gear. And it turns out that Laura has also has experience with this anger-reducing method as well. Plus, they respond to a mensaje on the Tiny Victories Hotline.

This week our tiny victories come from the Tiny Victory Hotline. Listener Bonnie tells us how she’s taken advantage of the extra time she has in the age of COVID, and Annabelle’s response traumatizes Laura. Plus, two very different tattoo-related victories from Theo and Nate.

This week’s tale is less of a tiny victory than it is an epic poem. It’s the story of how Laura House had to overcome her fears so she could slay the dragon that threatened–in a tiny way–her, and everyone she worked with. Annabelle finds a way to make House’s triumph seem even grander. Plus, an Australian listener calls into the show to explain why her 2021 calendar is her favorite thing that Laura predicted unintentionally.

IS 2020 the worst year ever? Can such an assertion even be proven? Whether or not such a thing can be proven, there is a definite consensus among historians about what year is, by far, “the worst”. Plus, self-described “non-joiner” Annabelle jumps on a bandwagon so she can be in the same company as a certain Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. (Spoiler Alert: It’s not John Bolton). And House receives a very special message on the Tiny Victory Hotline that's legit touching.

This week we hear from Maggie Rowe, a listener who called the Tiny Victory Hotline with a story about an old word that gave her a new perspective on a much-maligned habit. Also, there’s some hot goss on what makes Annabelle drop her pants, and House accidentally sides with The Pope.

In this inaugural episode of Tiny Victories, Annabelle falls down a paleo archeological rabbit hole, and comes out with a glimmer of hope for the continuance of our species.

Tiny Victories is the 15 minute podcast that pushes back on the notion that you have to "go big" or "go home". Sometimes just going is the victory. Each week, hosts Annabelle Gurwitch and Laura House invite listeners to adopt a TINY victory frame of mind, and share tales of fleeting joys and minor accomplishments in this majorly messed-up world.
