It is a brisk 111 degrees outside so the ladies pop open a chilled bottle of Noble Vines Pinot Grigio 152.  After a little chit chat Alma discusses the sad but true story of the atrocities that happen in the Ideal Maternity Home in East Chester, Nova Scotia beginning in the early 1920’s. It started out in what seemed to outsiders as a respectable Christian home for women and girls that found themselves pregnant out of wedlock in Nova Scotia, but the story takes a dark turn for the many young women that found themselves at their doorstep.  Carlene’s gives us a bonus true crime story that has a paranormal twist.  She gives us the run down on a 1990’s serial killer in Westfield Indiana suspected of killing over a dozen men who were last seen at gay bars in the area.  His sprawling property, Fox Hollow Farms is said to be haunted, possibly by his ghost or that of his many victims.  Pull up a chair and join us for this episode of Tipsy Tales.

Joined by Albert, Alma’s hubby, the ladies team up to tackle the gory story of America’s first serial killer, H. H. Holmes, a prolific serial killer that may have killed anywhere from 27 to 200 people in the late 1800’s in Chicago and other places in the U.S.  Drinking a 2018 Chilean Malbec called Casillero Del Diablo, Carlene begins with the true crime portion, chronicling Holmes life starting before he was H.H. Holmes all the way to the gallows.  We learn about the horrors that take place in his Murder Castle in Chicago.  Alma discusses some of the paranormal activity that takes place where the Murder Castle once stood, and also in an Indiana home where one of the murders took place.

The ladies pre-game with a bit of whiskey and are roaring to go with two stories they can’t wait to share. The question is Who Put Bella in The Witch Helm?  That’s what Alma wants to know.  It is a 77 year old murder mystery that has yet to be solved from 1943 Britain, that takes place right smack in the middle of World War 2. Carlene dives into The Ammon family haunting out of Gary, Indiana that plagues a grandmother, her daughter and her grandchildren for several years.  Is it demons? Is it a curse?  Is it a hoax?
