In this, the final episode of Season One, Nelson and Alexandra talk Titanic with the founder of The Titanic Trail in Cobh, Ireland.

Dr Michael Martin, a retired mariner and ocean liner enthusiast opened his walks and talks about the history of Titanic and her last port of call, Cobh, Ireland in 1997 and as is proven by the fact we are all still fascinated by the doomed ship, he's still going strong 364 days a year - they don't have tours on Christmas Day unfortunately.

Discover the origin of his talks and all the wonders and history that this one small port on the southern coast of Ireland holds.

Nelson and Alexandra chat with Derek Lea - a man of many talents. Not only does he play the heroic role of Stoker Frederick Barrett in James Cameron's Titanic.

Derek's resumé ranges from James Bond to Dr Who to The Bourne Ultimatum - Derek has acted and performed stunts in them all. His IMDB page is very long. His stories are wonderful and Alexandra gets to fan-girl on him for the boxing choreography he designed on one of her early films - Boxer on the Wilderness.

Nelson and Alexandra chat with Greg DiNapoli an artist of extraordinary ability who is able to make everything he draws appear to be a black and white photograph. He began with a fascination for lighthouses and a childhood love of the story of Titanic and with his background in graphic design built up to some amazing works of art that can take him up to one hundred hours to complete.

This episode of TITANIC TALK was recorded in early May before the tragic events of last week when five men lost their lives in the Titan submersible.

As you listen to Gareth Russell, author of the meticulously researched book "The Ship of Dreams: The Sinking of the Titanic and the End of the Edwardian Era," you will not fail to be struck by the eerie parallels between his insights on Titanic and the recent events surrounding the loss of the Titan that has shaken the maritime world. Our hearts go out to their families and loved ones during this difficult time.

In his book, Gareth sheds light on various aspects of the Titanic's ill-fated voyage and explores how the disaster could have been prevented. He discusses his admiration for individuals like Thomas Andrews, the ship's designer, and The Countess of Rothes, a survivor who displayed incredible bravery and social conciousness.

It's chilling to think that some of Gareth's predictions resonate with the recent loss of Stockton Rush, Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood, Hamish Harding and the renown and highly respected explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet.

Gareth draws parallels between the Edwardians' disregard for technological warning signs and our current negligence towards climate change much like the oversight exhibited by Oceangate in their deep-sea diving operations.

The losses suffered in the name of Titanic, the ship of dreams, continue to haunt us and serve as a cautionary tale. A stark reminder that history has a way of repeating itself when we fail to learn from our past mistakes.

Lesley-Anne (LA to her friends) is a mine of information on Titanic. With a PhD in social history that spans the Edwardian Era, she set about creating a podcast about Titanic - her first historical love alongside Leonardo Di Caprio - during the pandemic and her listenership is now of Titanic proportions. There's no shortage of Titanic related subjects - as Nelson and Alexandra have learned - and in this episode they deep dive into some of the reasons why through the lens of an historian and academic.

LA also just got a puppy and called her Rose deWitt PAWKater - she makes an appearance here if you watch on Youtube - as LA shares with us some of her escapades as podcaster at large - in particular her latest live podcast recording event at the Grand Hotel on Macinac Island. She has some very exciting episodes of her podcast coming up so be sure to subscribe

Titanic knows no age.

It's well known that seeing James Cameron's film for the first time can have a strong impression on a young person and bring about a fascination that invites them to find out more about the history of the ship and her passengers aboard the ship of dreams.

Nelson and Alexandra found two such young people - 24 year old Brandi Burleson saw the film when she was six and as well as becoming enamoured with Kate and Leo and the true story of the tragedy, seeing the film also inspired her to embark on a film career - production design is her particular interest after appreciating the sets ad the attention to detail in James Cameron's film.

Fifteen year old Neil Kolhatkar came to the story with a book called 882 & a Half Amazing Answers To Your Questions About The Titanic. He's not so keen on the film, but is super keen on all the details of the sinking and the people aboard - can you guess who his favourite person was aboard the Titanic?

Listen and tell us who your favourite character is.
