Joshua Noble came to us via the wonderful Titanic community that has grown, widened and deepened since Alexandra made her feature documentary SHIP OF DREAMS: Titanic Movie Diaries to co-ordinate with the 25th anniversary celebrations of James Cameron's Titanic.

And since co-hosting Titanic Talk with Nelson Aspen - a podcast that started as a way to promote the film but now stands on its own as a place to delve further into the stories of Titanic - we continue to build on that community.

Joshua Noble has been interested in the history of the ship from a very young and age and once he was old enough to watch it, a fan of the film too. But of particular interest are the lesser known characters, survivors and stories that go beyond Thomas Andrews, Captain Smith and Molly Brown. Dr Michael Martin, a retired mariner and ocean liner enthusiast opened his walks and talks about the history of Titanic and her last port of call, Cobh, Ireland in 1997 and as is proven by the fact we are all still fascinated by the doomed ship, he's still going strong 364 days a year - they don't have tours on Christmas Day unfortunately.

Nelson and Alexandra chat with Derek Lea - a man of many talents. Not only does he play the heroic role of Stoker Frederick Barrett in James Cameron's Titanic.

Derek's resumé ranges from James Bond to Dr Who to The Bourne Ultimatum - Derek has acted and performed stunts in them all. His IMDB page is very long. His stories are wonderful and Alexandra gets to fan-girl on him for the boxing choreography he designed on one of her early films - Boxer on the Wilderness.

This episode of TITANIC TALK was recorded in early May before the tragic events of last week when five men lost their lives in the Titan submersible.

As you listen to Gareth Russell, author of the meticulously researched book "The Ship of Dreams: The Sinking of the Titanic and the End of the Edwardian Era," you will not fail to be struck by the eerie parallels between his insights on Titanic and the recent events surrounding the loss of the Titan that has shaken the maritime world. Our hearts go out to their families and loved ones during this difficult time.

In his book, Gareth sheds light on various aspects of the Titanic's ill-fated voyage and explores how the disaster could have been prevented. He discusses his admiration for individuals like Thomas Andrews, the ship's designer, and The Countess of Rothes, a survivor who displayed incredible bravery and social conciousness.

 It's chilling to think that some of Gareth's predictions resonate with the recent loss of Stockton Rush, Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood, Hamish Harding and the renown and highly respected explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet.

Gareth draws parallels between the Edwardians' disregard for technological warning signs and our current negligence towards climate change much like the oversight exhibited by Oceangate in their deep-sea diving operations.
