50-year-old Christa Pike remains in the hospital, in critical condition this morning. Pike’s attorneys say she was chemically tortured, suggesting the drugs went into her arm tissue rather than her bloodstream. They also have expressed frustration that they haven't been given any sense of her prognosis, but if Pike survives, it will be unprecedented. Meantime, her victim’s mother, May Martinez is speaking out, frustrated by the botched execution.

It took former Cornell University student “Jane Doe” filing a lawsuit, and outrage on social media, for prosectors to “reopen” the investigation into her allegations that 7 members of the Chi Phi fraternity drugged and gang raped her back in 2024. The District Attorney claims he never received the full transcript of Jane Doe’s interview with campus police, and says this new lawsuit makes claims that were not made during the initial investigation. There is a lot of finger pointing going on, and a lot of questions being asked, as Jane Does’ full transcript of what she says happened that night have been released. It’s ugly, it’s appalling, and now, two years later, a grand jury will determine if it was criminal.

Today marks the 41st anniversary of a month created to bring awareness and save lives for millions of women around the world. October 1st is the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness month and to mark that day 13 years ago, Amy had a mammogram on live national television to remind women to make their own potentially life saving appointments. It was that scan that ultimately led to a stage 2 breast cancer at the age of 40. Today, the American Cancer Society wants women and men to know their risks, know the warning signs and help provide the information and resources available. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, but the earlier its detected, the better chance of surviving it.

Quick and brave actions by the captain of Flydubai flight 1073 and several of its passengers averted a deadly disaster, saving the lives of more than 170 people on board a flight headed from Dubai to Tel Aviv on Wednesday. The investigation is ongoing, but the details of what happened mid-air are nothing short of remarkable. A co-pilot who has now been detained, reportedly began stabbing the captain in an attempt to crash the plane. While being attacked, the captain was able to open the cockpit door, allowing passengers to rush in, neutralize the co-pilot and stabilize the plane that had dropped more than 17 thousand feet in less than two minutes. While it’s unclear whether this was an orchestrated terror attack, it is clear that the actions of a few, saved the lives of everyone on board.

71-year-old Douglas Carter walked out of prison this week after spending 40 years on death row for a 1985 murder he says he never committed. Carter was finally freed after DNA from the crime scene excluded him as a suspect. Carter was finally granted a new trial last year after the Utah Supreme Court ruled the two witnesses who testified against him recanted their stories, revealing that police and a prosecutor gave them cash and gifts to point the finger at Carter. Prosecutors agreed with the judge to release Carter, despite objections from the victims’ family.

NBC news has sourced a remarkable story describing what life is like for the billionaire music mogul behind bars. Multiple inmates have described a life Sean “Diddy” Combs has curated in prison, spending thousands of dollars a month for men to make his bed, cook his food, clean his clothes and give him massages. They also have photos and videos showing Diddy on a phone - which is not permitted - and say Diddy has premium alcohol that he sometimes shares with a tight circle of inmates on the weekends. Diddy’s reps have already responded to the allegations, but didn’t necessarily deny them. It’s unclear if these reports will have any impact on his latest release date of January 2028.
