The man who pleaded guilty last summer of the brutal campus killings of four Idaho college students, now claims he was coerced into pleading guilty for the crimes. Bryan Kohberger, who is currently serving four life sentences, filed a handwritten petition to the court on Monday asking for a trial, after he claims he was forced by his attorneys into making a false plea to avoid death row. It’s unclear if a court will consider Kohberger’s request, given in his plea deal, where he waived all rights to appeal “any and all issues” in the case.

Investigators are trying to piece together what happened in a Michigan home that led to 47-year-old Kris Karolkiewicz shooting and killing his six children, his wife and then himself after setting the family home on fire. We know Kris recently lost his job as a Vice President with the American Heart Association, but it’s still unclear if that played a role in the unthinkable tragedy. Investigators say they found his licensed firearm near his body, and the rest of the family members shot to death in their bedrooms. While police confirmed he did not leave behind a note, investigators have seized what they call “a lot of documentation” from the home.

The final and fifth day of the D4vd preliminary hearing brought even more surprising evidence to light, and gave more insight into David Anthony Burke’s defense. A horrific story out of Oklahoma has left two children without their mother. 43-year-old Sara Gilson joined in on a TikTok trend pretending to sit down for a Netflix documentary, that she said would be about her “soon to be ex-husband who I just found out is a pedophile.” Two weeks later, her young son called 9-1-1 to say his stepdad shot his mom. Police found Gilson dead, shot in the head next to her 48-year-old estranged husband who had a self inflicted gunshot wound. Day 4 of the D4vd, aka David Anthony Burke, preliminary hearing was the most disturbing day of testimony so far. There were audible gasps in the courtroom as the medical examiner showed photos from the autopsy of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, detailing how the young teen was stabbed twice and then dismembered. We also heard testimony from a police detective who went over the sexually graphic and explicit photos and videos between D4vd and Celeste, including text messages describing at least one pregnancy and abortion.
