  • Arkansas Dad Wins Sheriff Race While Awaiting Murder Trial | Aaron Spencer Update

Aaron Spencer is now the Republican nominee for Lonoke County Sheriff in Arkansas. He's also facing second-degree murder charges. His trial was supposed to start in January. The judge was removed by the Arkansas Supreme Court forty-eight hours before it was set to begin.

Spencer shot and killed Michael Fosler in October 2024 after finding his thirteen-year-old daughter in Fosler's truck at one in the morning. Fosler was facing forty-three felony charges—sexual assault, child pornography, internet stalking of a child—all involving Spencer's daughter. He was out on fifty thousand dollars bond with orders to stay away from minors.

According to the arrest affidavit, Spencer forced Fosler's truck off the road. When Fosler allegedly grabbed the girl and prevented her from exiting, Spencer shot him fifteen times.

The defense argues justification. The state says murder.

Judge Barbara Elmore presided over both Fosler's bond hearing and Spencer's case. The Arkansas Supreme Court called her gag order a "gross abuse of discretion" in May 2025. When she imposed new restrictions before the January trial, the court removed her entirely.

Retired Judge Ralph Wilson has been assigned. A new trial date will be determined March 18.

Spencer won 53.5 percent of the primary vote. He'll face Democrat Brian Mitchell Sr. in November. Under Arkansas law, a felony conviction bars him from holding office.

The outcome of the trial will determine whether he goes to prison or becomes the sheriff of the county that charged him with murder.

  • Nancy Guthrie Case — Why "Amateurish" Behavior Points Away From Cartels

The cartel theory has dominated online discussion of the Nancy Guthrie disappearance. Coordinated kidnapping crews. Private jets to Puerto Vallarta. Retaliation for U.S. drug policy.

But the doorbell footage shows something else entirely.

FBI experts have called the suspect's behavior "amateurish." The person didn't know there was a camera. They grabbed weeds from the yard to cover it — on the spot, improvised. They carried a weapon in what's been described as an unprofessional manner.

This doesn't look like cartel sophistication. This looks like someone who didn't plan for what they encountered.

Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott joins True Crime Today to examine why the public gravitates toward elaborate conspiracy theories when the evidence suggests something simpler — especially when the victim is famous.

A Border Patrol officer told reporters that cartels don't target people in the U.S. because it brings attention they don't want. Pima County has explicitly said there's no indication Nancy was taken to Mexico.

Sheriff Nanos called it a "targeted kidnapping." But if it was targeted, wouldn't the suspect have known about the camera?

We're more than 31 days in with no arrest. Multiple ransom notes have flooded media outlets — at least four to TMZ. One person has already been arrested for a fake demand.

Shavaun Scott has worked extensively with offenders who commit crimes that spiral out of control — theft or burglary that escalates into violence when things go wrong. If this was a break-in gone catastrophically sideways, what does the psychology look like?

This episode cuts through the speculation to examine what the evidence actually suggests.

  • Colin Gray Guilty on All Counts: Murder Conviction Exposes Every Warning He Ignored

Colin Gray guilty. All counts. Second-degree murder. Involuntary manslaughter. Cruelty to children. The jury needed less than two hours.

Colin Gray guilty of murder makes Georgia history—the first parent in the state convicted for a school shooting committed by his child. The Colin Gray guilty verdict came after two weeks of testimony that destroyed every excuse he offered.

The evidence that made Colin Gray guilty was damning. FBI agents warned Colin Gray in 2023 after his son Colt threatened a school shooting online. Colin Gray bought Colt an AR-15 seven months later as a Christmas gift. No gun safe. No trigger lock. The rifle sat in a fourteen-year-old's bedroom beside photos of Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz—which Colin Gray claimed he mistook for "the guy from Green Day."

Weeks before the shooting, Colt texted Colin Gray: "Whenever something happens just know the blood is on your hands." Colin Gray convinced himself it was about something else. The morning of September 4th, Colt sent goodbye texts. Colin Gray read them, asked what was wrong, and stayed at work. Nineteen minutes later, four people were dead.

Colin Gray guilty was confirmed by his own family. His daughter testified Colin Gray asked her to lie to investigators. His wife said she begged Colin Gray to lock up the guns. Colin Gray took the stand alone, cried, and swore he never saw it coming. The jury rejected every word—Colin Gray guilty on all charges in under two hours.

Colin Gray guilty sends a clear message. Crumbleys got manslaughter. Colin Gray guilty of murder raises the stakes. Parental accountability just became very real.

  • Kouri Richins Murder Trial: The Affair Texts, the Uinta Mountains Question, and the Secret Trust Eric Built to Protect His Kids

Day eight of the Kouri Richins murder trial in Park City, Utah delivered the most emotionally charged testimony of the case so far — and it came not from a forensic expert or a law enforcement officer, but from the man Kouri Richins was in love with while her husband was still alive.

Robert Josh Grossman took the stand on the four-year anniversary of Eric Richins' death. He had moved to Utah for Kouri. She had bought him two trucks, gifted him a birthday trip to Saint Martin, and paid him $25,000 after Eric died. Prosecutors walked the jury through years of text messages — ending with Kouri's words just days before Eric's death: "If he could just go away and you could just be here. Life would be so perfect."

Grossman broke down reading them. When the judge called a recess and asked if he needed to stretch his legs, Grossman said: "It ain't the legs."

Prosecutors also used the day to show the jury who Eric Richins actually was behind closed doors — a man who had quietly consulted a divorce attorney in October 2020, built a trust naming his sister as trustee over $7.6 million in assets, and told his estate attorney that Kouri had used his power of attorney to take $250,000 of his money. He didn't revoke it. He said she was the mother of his children.

About two weeks after Eric's death, Kouri and Grossman drove to the Uinta Mountains. During that drive, according to Grossman, Kouri asked him what it feels like to kill someone. At the time, he thought nothing of it. Looking back, everything looked different.

The defense moved for a mistrial over newly disclosed information about Carmen Lauber. Kouri Richins has pleaded not guilty and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Kouri Richins Psychology — Living in an Alternate Reality While Facing Murder Charges

Charged with murder. Wrote a grief book. Promoted it on television. Filed lawsuits from jail demanding millions from the estate of the man she's accused of killing. Punched her sister-in-law upon learning she'd been cut from the will.

Kouri Richins appears to be living in a version of reality that nobody else can see.

Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott joins True Crime Today to examine cognitive distortion at its most extreme — how someone constructs and inhabits an alternate narrative that contradicts what everyone around them is experiencing, and genuinely believes their version is the true one.

The "Walk the Dog" letter from jail is a window into that mindset. Prosecutors called it blatant witness tampering — instructions to family members on testimony, claims that Eric purchased drugs from Mexico himself. When someone facing serious charges continues trying to control the narrative, what does that reveal?

The 911 call the night Eric died was hysterical — sobbing, barely able to answer questions. The defense called it "the sounds of a wife becoming a widow." But prosecutors say Kouri's phone was active before that call, and Eric's sister testified she appeared "well put together" when she arrived.

How does someone produce what sounds like genuine devastation after allegedly orchestrating a death? Is it performance, or can someone actually feel grief for an outcome they caused?

Internet searches recovered from Kouri's phone included "luxury prisons for the rich" and "if someone is poisoned what does it go down on the death certificate as." These suggest awareness that what she was doing was wrong.

How do you reconcile knowing something is criminal with believing you're entitled to do it?

After nearly three years in jail, Kouri maintains her innocence. Shavaun Scott explains how distortion becomes reality.

  • Kouri Richins $500K Financial Fraud — Forged Signatures, Secret Credit Lines Exposed

The murder charges against Kouri Richins get the headlines. But prosecutors have built a parallel case about years of alleged financial exploitation — and the paper trail is damning.

Nearly half a million dollars allegedly taken from Eric Richins through forged signatures, unauthorized credit lines, and misdirected tax payments. A $250,000 home equity line prosecutors say was opened without his knowledge. Credit cards maxed in his name. Tax payments redirected. And all of it while Kouri ran her own real estate business and closed multi-million-dollar deals.

This wasn't a trapped wife with no options. The forensic accounting shows money flowing one direction: from Eric to Kouri.

Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott joins True Crime Today to examine the psychology of financial exploitation when objective reality contradicts the story someone tells themselves. Testimony suggests Kouri complained about their prenuptial agreement as though she were the one being controlled. How does someone construct that grievance narrative when the evidence shows substantial financial freedom?

Eric discovered the fraud in September 2020. According to prosecutors, Kouri admitted it and promised repayment. She allegedly never paid a cent. He consulted divorce attorneys but stayed in the marriage.

What happens psychologically when a partner catches you and stays anyway? Does that get interpreted as permission?

The forensic accountant painted a grim picture: Kouri's business brought in $170,000 over five months while debt service exceeded $250,000. Prosecutors allege falsified bank statements and Eric's letterhead used to secure loans.

Shavaun Scott breaks down entitlement, escalation, and what keeps someone doubling down when everything is collapsing.

  • Gilgo Beach Killer's Family SPEAKS: LISK's Wife Defends Him, Daughter Says Guilty

The Long Island Serial Killer's family is split. The trial is coming. And both women may be victims of the same alleged lie.

In today's episode, we examine the Gilgo Beach Killer family fracture—why his ex-wife Asa Ellerup still calls Rex her "hero" while daughter Victoria has publicly stated she believes he's "most likely" guilty of the Long Island murders.

According to the Peacock documentary, Asa described Rex as her "savior" from a difficult first marriage. She said visiting him in jail felt like "a first date." Their divorce was finalized in March 2025—but she still refers to him as "my husband."

Victoria's evolution was different. She acknowledged there were places in the Massapequa Park house she wasn't allowed as a child. She spoke with BTK's daughter about living in the aftermath. By the documentary's release, she'd reached her conclusion about LISK.

But here's what makes the Gilgo Beach case even more disturbing. According to court documents, female hairs found on multiple victims' remains along Ocean Parkway were allegedly consistent with DNA from Asa and Victoria. Neither woman is accused of involvement. Suffolk County prosecutors say the hair was transferred from Rex's clothing.

The women in the alleged Long Island Serial Killer's life were allegedly connected to murder victims they never knew existed. Their hair allegedly helped build the prosecution's case.

The family unknowingly provided the evidence.

They'll all be in the same courtroom in September 2026—one believing innocent, one believing guilty.

Both are collateral damage in the Gilgo Beach case.

    Part 3 of 5.
