  • Dear Mam (A Letter to My Mom)

In Ireland, Mother’s Day is this Sunday, March 22nd 2020.

At a time like this – when the world is turned upside down, we should never fall short of gratitude. In particular, for our loved ones.

During this world pandemic, I’m currently not with my mom. I’m in Ireland and she’s in Canada: we’re oceans away. This podcast episode is for the ones without their mother’s warmth this Sunday. This is for the people who are isolating with their mother but find tension and disconnect because they haven’t spent a lot of time with their family during school and work – up until now. Or maybe their mother isn’t with them. And that’s all.

This podcast episode is for my mom, and your mom, and anyone that has raised you to be the person you are today – and to send a message that we are always connected, no matter where we are in the world or in life.

  • BEST NEWS: No one came to my event. Alone at a Table for 7.

"Always keeping it real!! Love everything about this share ❤️ and YOU!!" - @aydehill

"Great message you are pushing! Everyone needs to hear this!" - @yaboypitty

"Such a great post!! I love this! We all have failures of some kind and a perspective shift is definitely needed about this - thanks for leading the way." - @drtracydebi

"That's amazing Azia ❤️ keep it up and you'll be successful everywhere you go because success isn't measured by monetary value but by how you perceive accomplishment." - @annygrace9

"Oh Azia, thank you so much for sharing this! This is so scary to share and I'm so happy that you left feeling vibrant and not defeated! The more you put your intention out there the more success will come. The very fact that nobody came is actually a step forward because you made the networking event happened regardless of the outcome! Nobody shares this. Nobody shares when they fall on their face like this especially in a business. Thank you for being so transparent. I have immense respect for you." - @thefitty

"Wow I really really REALLY love this perspective of things and need to remind myself more of this each day." - @elliecelli

FOMO - Fear of Missing Out. What to do when you're missing out:

Being abroad means there are times when my friends and family are hanging out without me. It's such a common situation to be in - when everyone is making memories and you're not there to experience it.

I've learned to cope with EASE. FOMO is no longer hard for me.

*Unfiltered: this episode started as a rant but it turned into a pretty neat and uncommon topic worth sharing about.

  • Major Funk / in a slump / feeling lost without knowing why

I recorded this episode back in the summer and although I make reference to summer times, it doesn't mean the slump never happens during the school year.

This applies to any moment when you're feeling down, what it's like to feel lost without knowing why, figuring out why you're sad,

& overall manage how to still get through the day as an emotional wreck when your emotions are yo-yo-ing (aka going uppp and downn, upp and downnn).

  • Imposter Syndrome is GOOD for you - How to BE the RIGHT version of you without feeling FAKE.

What did you think you were really good at - until you saw someone who was *actually* really good at it?

What are the RIGHT questions to ask yourself when you feel you're not good enough, when you feel you're a fraud, when you feel like someone is going to expose you and find out you're not as awesome as they think you are?

Why is imposter syndrome GOOD for you?

How to deal with imposter syndrome - big takeaways:

    • You don’t owe anyone an explanation of your expertise. People question if you’re qualified? Why do they need to know? If you’re certain what you’re offering or who you are drives results, that’s all that matters.

    • You can’t please everyone – there’s some stuff I say online that people disagree with. My parents disagree with me on things. I’m sure there are others who think I overshare or post too much on my stories. But I don’t say ‘F you and what you think’. That’s just disrespectful and unnecessary. I say ‘Cool. I respect everyone’s opinion, even if you disagree. Thank you for being honest and I’m keeping doing what’s good for me and what feels true or real to me. I choose to care more about my values than others.’ And I move on with my merry way.

    • Imposter Syndrome is HEALTHY – if we all believed in ourselves 100% of the time, the world would fall apart because as order brings chaos, and chaos brings orders, we’d all have entitlement up our ass' and think we’re the best. But with everyone being the best, the best becomes the norm and no one is really the best.
