Our study resumes in Mark 5:6 as Jesus

confronts an unclean spirit. Notice in

vs 8 Jesus’ command and in vs 13 Jesus’

permission. Jesus has authority over

spirits to this day.

Dr. Mitchell explains the reason people wanted Jesus to leave their region. They had suffered an economic loss.

Then in verses 19-20, observe that the

man was to proclaim what great things

the Lord had done for him, so he told

what great things Jesus had done for

him.

Do you have things, great or small that

the Lord Jesus has done for you that you

can tell others about? How about His forgiveness of sins to you? How about God

declaring you to be as righteous as the

Savior thru faith in Christ?

Is this not a great thing?

Yes indeed.

Here is Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging

We now come into chapter 5 of the Gospel of Mark. We will be reading and studying

the first 6 verses.

Dr. Mitchell brings out the fact that a

dominate note in this gospel is Jesus

casting out of demons. The Gospel of

Mark seems to demonstrate the authority

of our Lord Jesus Christ to cast out

demons. He still has that authority to

this day. By His resurrection and ascension and exaltation to the right

hand of God, angels, authorities, and

powers have been made subject to HIM.

He is exalted far above all

principality, power and might and

dominion. Jesus is Lord of all.

Dr. Mitchell warns about an evil

device used today to invite demonic activity into one’s life. For we wrestle

not against flesh and blood.

Let’s turn, with Dr. Mitchell, on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast,

to Mark 5:1-6.

Our Lord now finishes up His four

parables, as they are presented in the Gospel of Mark. They speak of

growth.

Furthermore, Jesus explained these

things to His disciples when they

were together with Him. Do you see the

privilege, advantage and benefit of

spending time with the Savior inorder

for Him to help us understand His Word?

Mark then goes on to show our Lord with

His disciples in the midst of a storm

being tossed by the wind and sea on the

sea of Galilee. Here is Jesus, bringing

us His disciples through the storm.

As Dr. Mitchell says, “We are far safer

in the storm with Jesus” than anywhere

else. Remember, the Lord Jesus is

called, Immanuel, meaning ‘God with us’!

Let’s look to Jesus the author and

perfecter of faith.

Here is Dr. Mitchell, Mark 4:26.

Going on, we now proceed to two other

parables that Jesus spoke.

The first has to do with the lamp and

it’s light. Where should the lamp and

it’s light be put? These are questions

which the Lord asks.

Light dispels darkness. We, who know

Christ as savior, are a light to the

world both in words and deeds.

Dr. Mitchell makes mention of the

fact that God is light. Are we walking

in the Light?

Therefore Jesus said, take care what you

hear. What is going into your ears?

Is it the Word of God? Faith comes from

hearing and hearing comes from the word

of Christ. Rom.10:17.

Secondly, Jesus compares the kingdom of

God to a man who sows seed and it grows

to maturity and is harvested.

Let’s turn to Mark 4:21 with Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.

Why did the Lord speak in parables” is

a question Dr. Mitchell asks us.

He gives the reason which Jesus Himself revealed.

In this lesson, Dr. Mitchell will

examine each parable our Lord spoke

to the people. He will take each parable

of the sower and the seed and then will

take up Jesus’ own interpretation of

that parable.

There are four such parables which Jesus

spoke to people as they were able to

hear.

It is noted by our teacher that of the

four sowings of the seed, 3 did not bear

any fruit, while the 4th sowing brought

forth fruit in ever increasing amounts,

30, 60, 100 fold.

Dr. Mitchell says this is done by

the Holy Spirit. He brings forth His

fruit as written in Gal.5:22.

Here is Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging

Dr. Mitchell gives us an overview of

a new teaching method that Jesus begins

to employ with the people.

Jesus has taught the gospel to people

thru-out the first 3 chapters as Mark

presents Him.

But now Our Lord begins to teach in

parables. Dr. Mitchell will give the

definition of a parable. Jesus taught

parables to those outside, but truth to

His disciples who were with Him.

The Lord Jesus used parables to draw the

crowds to Himself, if only they would

hear. God is always ready to reveal the

Savior and truth to open hearts.

Jesus Himself knew the Scriptures for He quotes Isaiah 6:9-10.

Here is Dr. Mitchell who begins to

finish up chapter 3, giving us due

perspective on our relationship to

Christ, on the Unchanging

Word Bible Broadcast.

Dr. Mitchell reviews the Pharisees'

accusation towards Jesus as being

possessed by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons.

So, Let’s hear Jesus’ statement when

He says, ‘all sins will be forgiven the sons of

men and whatever blasphemies they utter”.

Jesus died, first of all, for you and me, people, sons of men. He died for people, to take away our sins. And

because of His death on the cross, God

is able to forgive ALL SINS. That includes yours and mine! Salvation is no

longer a matter of the sin, it is a

matter of the Son, Jesus Christ our

Lord. If you have not yet, will you

believe in God’s Son, the Lord Jesus

Christ. He loves YOU!

In doing so, you will have done the

will of God. This brings about a new

relationship,

Here is Dr. Mitchell, Mark 3:29.

This is the Unchanging Word Bible

Mark will describe how the Pharisees traveled all the way from Jerusalem down to Galilee in the north, about 100 miles or

so. They then begin to accuse Jesus our

Lord as being demon possessed. Jesus

calls out the contradiction of such a

statement. How can satan cast out satan?

A house or kingdom divided against itself cannot stand but comes to an end.

These were sinning the unpardonable sin, saying that Jesus was controlled by Satan

rather than by the Holy Spirit.

They were in effect, blaspheming against

the Holy Spirit at that time in Israel’s

history. This will mark the time when

our Lord is rejected by that nation with

no hope of His Kingdom being established

at that time.

Dr. Mitchell will discuss the

‘unpardonable sin’ which is of concern

to some believers today, on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast,

Mark 3:22.

Knowing that a plot was being formed

against him, Jesus, with His disciples

withdrew to the sea. Great crowds

followed Him from 7 different regions.

So, a boat was prepared for the the Lord

that He might teach from it. However,

once again, unclean spirits were yelling

out who He was. But Jesus shut them up.

Mark next presents, our Lord as choosing

his 12 apostles, which are all named.

He chose them, first of all to be with Him.

He then gives them the commission

followed by the authority to fulfill it.

Then Mark tells us that Jesus was so

busy, he did not have time to eat. And

His family thought He had lost His

senses so they set out to take Him home.

Let’s turn to Mark 3:6 with Dr. Mitchell.

Mark now gives two episodes about

Jesus demonstrating that He is Lord

of the sabbath.

In the first, Jesus is confronted by the

Pharisees as to why Jesus’ disciples

were doing what they considered to be

“unlawful on the sabbath”. They were

viewed as doing work on the sabbath by

plucking the heads of wheat and eating them. Jesus declared that the sabbath

was made for man, not man for the

Sabbath. Jesus, the Son of Man is Lord

of the sabbath.

The second episode shows Jesus healing

a man on the sabbath. Here the religious

rulers were waiting to accuse the Lord

of a violation by healing a man on the

sabbath. Jesus didn’t disappoint. He

healed the man’ hand. This then, gave

rise for a collusion between two enemies.
