December 06, 2021 Gospel of Mark - Mark 2:18-22 - Prog 16
In Mark 2:18-22 Mark records the question
from some people who asked why
Jesus’s disciples were not fasting.
After all, the disciples of the
Pharisees and those of John the Baptist
were fasting.
Jesus gives His answer by way of an
analogy of the relationship between a
bridegroom and his wedding guests.
Our Lord then goes on to give an example
of the practical reality of how unshrunk
cloth on a old garment reacts. Then He
also does the same thing with regards to
how new wine, placed inside an old dried-up wineskin, affects the wineskin.
Our Lord Jesus brings out the difference
between the new and old, between the law and grace. As John wrote, John 1:17,
“For the law was given through Moses,
but grace and truth came through Jesus
Christ.”

December 03, 2021 Gospel of Mark - Mark 2:13-20 - Prog 15
As Dr. Mitchell mentions the need for
prayer on behalf of the ministry, we
too ask for your intercession on behalf
of the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.
Thank you for your support.
In this passage, Mark 2:13-20, we hear
the Savior calling Levi, a tax collector
to follow Him. Levi is the Hebrew name
for the disciple we know as Matthew, the
author of the first Gospel.
Levi invited Jesus and His disciples to
his house to dine with him and his
friends. Jesus, in spite of the criticism from the religious rulers,
came to call sinners and not the
righteous to repentance.
Next, Jesus is confronted with a question about fasting during the feast.
Why doesn’t Jesus’ disciples fast like
other disciples?
Let’s join Dr. Mitchell in Mark 2:13
with Jesus the sinner’s friend.

December 02, 2021 Gospel of Mark - Mark 2:5-12 - Prog 14
We continue in Mark 2:1-12 with Jesus
demonstrating His authority.
Both Matthew 9 and Luke 5 present this
same incident of four men making a
way to the Savior through the roof of the house where Jesus was teaching.
The problem the scribes and pharisees
had was their ignorance of the Savior and His divine authority. It is easy to
say words that declare the forgiveness
of sins, but only the Lord Jesus Christ has the
divine authority to not only declare it,
but to make it happen. Our Lord
demonstrated the authority of God
in commanding the paralytic man to rise
up, take his stretcher and go home.
He did just that in the presence of all
the people.
The people were completely astounded by
this miracle in which Jesus demonstrated His Deity.

December 01, 2021 Gospel of Mark - Mark 2:1-5 - Prog 13
In this and the next lesson, we will
see the Lord Jesus demonstrating His
authority to both heal and to forgive
sins.
The people were so crowded around
the Savior that some men could not get
through to Him. So, they put their faith to work by
making an opening in the roof. Why? They
were bearing a friend on a stretcher who
needed to be healed from his paralysis.
Jesus saw their faith and said to the
paralytic, “Your sins are forgiven”.
Notice, Jesus sees the faith and forgives the sins.
Some professional scribes doubted His
statement. So, once again, the Lord
demonstrates His same authority to both heal and to forgive sins.
Jesus has divine authority to forgive
your sin and mine!
Let’s turn to Mark 2:1 with Dr. Mitchell
speaking of the Savior’s authority to
forgive sin. This is the Unchanging

November 30, 2021 Gospel of Mark - Mark 1:35-45 - Prog 12
In verse 35 of Mark 1, Mark shows us
the Savior rising very early in the
morning. He went to a desolate place and there He prayed. The Lord spent time
with God His Father before the busy day
began.
Do you know that Jesus is even now
praying for each and every believer? He
prays for those who draw near to God
through Him in order to keep each
believer saved forever. Read Hebrews
7:25.
Mark next presents Christ having
authority over leprosy. Dr. Mitchell
observes that Jesus didn’t heal
lepers, He cleansed them. Here our Lord reached out and touched the leper. Jesus
can cleanse you, my friend, from all sin.
And He is willing to do so completely and forever.
Let’s turn to Mark 1:35 with our teacher,
Dr. Mitchell, who shows us the
Savior’s compassion.

November 29, 2021 Gospel of Mark - Mark 1:24-34 - Prog 11
We are in Mark chapter 1 beginning at
verse 24. In this passage, Mark presents
Jesus, the servant of the Lord. This
one who has authority over demonic
powers and diseases.
Not only was Jesus recognized as one
whose teaching was with authority, but
He also demonstrated His divine
authority over the demonic realm.
Dr. Mitchell points out that these
demons knew who Jesus was. They also
knew they were going to be destroyed,
but what they did not know was when
it would happen. Demons believe and
tremble. But you and I can believe in
Jesus Christ and rejoice.
Dr. Mitchell also brings out the Savior's
healing of Peter’s mother-in-law who was
taken with a fever.
Here is Dr. Mitchell in Mark chapter 1
verse 24 with God’s revelation of the
authority of our Savior.

November 26, 2021 Gospel of Mark - Mark 1:21-24 - Prog 10
Jesus, after coming into the region of
Galilee and calling His first 4
disciples to follow Him, He now enters
the town of Capernaum, and it was the
sabbath. So we see Jesus in the
synagogue teaching the people. They were
taken aback at the authority with which
our Lord spoke. His teaching was not as
the scribes taught. Jesus spoke with an
authority not seen from their professional scribes.
Then along comes a man who entered into the
synagogue having an unclean spirit.
This spirit spoke directly to Jesus.
He knew who Jesus was but the Lord Jesus
rebuked the unclean spirit with authority.
Demons have no right to proclaim who
Christ is.
Let’s turn to Mark 1:21 with Dr. Mitchell as he shows us the savior as one
having authority over demonic powers.

November 25, 2021 Gospel of Mark - Mark 1:14-20 - Prog 09
After coming into Galilee, in northern
Israel, Jesus began preaching the gospel
of the Kingdom of God to the Jewish
people. The Kingdom of God was at hand
because the King was there and they were
to accept and believe in Him who is
their coming Messiah.
Now while Jesus was in the area of
Galilee, he begins to call His first
men, 4 fishermen, to follow Him.
You will note there were two pairs
of brothers who, possibly, were also
partners in the fishing business.
Dr. Mitchell explains more of the
relationships between these brothers in
this lesson. Notice their immediate
obedience in following the savior.
The savior is going to prepare
them to be fishers of men, seeking men
who need Jesus and giving them the good
news.

November 24, 2021 Gospel of Mark - Mark 1:12-15 - Prog 08
We look into Mark 1:12-15 in this
lesson, further exploring our
Lord’s temptation in the wilderness. He
was there for 40 days being tempted by
Satan. You can read further details of
His temptation in Matthew 4:1 and Luke 4:1.
Now in verses 14-15, Mark writes of the
Lord Jesus, after the time when John the
Baptist had been arrested and placed in
prison. At this time, Jesus comes into
Galilee, having come back from the
wilderness. There He begins to proclaim
the Gospel of God. His gospel was to
make known, at that present time, that
the Kingdom of God had come. People were
to repent by believing His gospel.
Open your Bible to Mark 1:12.
Dr. Mitchell speaks of the Lord Jesus Christ, our savior, triumphant over temptation
through the living Word of God.

November 23, 2021 Gospel of Mark - Mark 1:9-13 - Prog 07
In Mark chapter 1 verses 9 - 13 we are
given an account of two events
that focus our sight on Jesus.
The first has to do with our Lord coming
from Nazareth in Galilee to the Jordan
river where John the Baptist was
baptizing. Here Jesus was baptized by John in the Jordan.
Here, in verses 9-11, is one of the
first times the Trinity or Triunity of God is revealed.
Jesus is baptized, the Holy Spirit
descends upon the Lord and the voice of the Father comes from heaven in
commendation of the Lord Jesus.
Then secondly, we see the savior, driven by the Spirit into the wilderness and
tempted by Satan.
He was with the wild beasts and angels
ministered to Him.
In Mark chapter 1 verse 9
with our Lord’s baptism and temptation is Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging Word
