He gives us the definition of the
word ‘Justified or justification.’
Sinful man needs God's declaration
of righteousness in order to stand
in the presence of a holy God.

In this lesson, Dr. Mitchell will
be continuing in the doctrine of
redemption. We have been purchased
from sin, to the point where, by
faith in Christ, we can never be
sin’s slave again.
He reviews the different Greek words which refer to our redemption by the blood of Christ.
We are redeemed from the penalty of
sin, the guilt of sin and the power
of sin. Soon, when Jesus comes for
us, we will be redeemed from the
very presence of sin - spirit soul
and body - the whole person.

salvation of man? He breaks it
down into 3 things which were all accomplished once for all through

1st - redemption - from man's sin
2nd - reconciliation - for man's
peace with God
3rd - propitiation - of God's righteous character.
The vindication & satisfaction of
the divine character of God is the

man His grace without compromising
His own holy righteousness.

study of forgiveness, Dr. Mitchell
gives several scriptures which state the purpose and benefits of the death of Jesus Christ once for all.
We read and understand that God has
provided all and everything needed
to remove the barrier between God
and you through the death of His
beloved Son. The shed blood of
Jesus was all that God required
in order to righteously provide salvation to each and every sinner
from the sin which each one of us has.

In our study, Dr. Mitchell looks at
the need for forgiveness. He asks
“Just how bad are we in the eyes of
God?”
The scriptures reveal the universal
fact of sin in every person. How
can it be dealt with? Man cannot
deal with it sufficiently to please
God. So, God Himself has to deal
with the problem of sin in His
creatures, in man woman and child.
As Dr. Mitchell points out, God
deals, not with the degree of
sin, but with the fact of sin.
It is not a matter of how much or
how little the sin, but rather
there is any sin at all. And
as Scripture declares,
“There is none righteous, no not one”.
Romans 3:10

study, he shares with us scriptures
that reveal what God sees in man
even down to one’s very motives.
Dr. Mitchell says, Romans 3:10-18
reveals what a man is, what a man
does, the cause of it, and the
final verdict that there is no fear of God before their eyes.
You’ll notice the universality of
sin, vss.9-12 with the words
'All'. 'None' 'Together' 'Not even
One'.
These are followed by the
anatomy of sin, vss.13-17
with the words, 'Throat' 'Tongues'
'Lips' 'Mouth' 'Feet' 'Eyes'
and the final conclusion, vs.18,
'There is no fear of God before them'.

As we continue in our series on
What Jesus Did on the Cross, Dr.
Mitchell will next look at How
God sees men.
The scriptures we will be looking
at are Ps.53 and Romans 3:10-18.
These scriptures reveal the heart
of man as God sees it.
Here we see that God’s holy
righteous character must be
vindicated. But How? God’s solution
was the cross of Christ. The blood
of Jesus Christ shed on the cross
vindicated the righteousness of
God. This freed God to righteously
show His mercy, grace and love to sinful
man with no accusation His being
unrighteous.
Dr. Mitchell again takes us to
several scriptures to reveal what
they say about the heart of man.

Dr. Mitchell continues in this
lesson speaking of the attitude of
the Jews to the cross.
We are in 1 Cor.1:18-25. Here it
is revealed that the Jews required
a sign, a sign of power to validate
a person & the message as being from God.
From their study of the Hebrew
scriptures, the Jewish people were looking for a
glorified King with His kingdom not
a savior crucified for their sin.
But in fact, these same O.T. scriptures
speak of both as being true of their Messiah.
Dr. Mitchell speaks of the Messiah
as revealed in Ps.22, Ps.69 and
Isaiah 53 which deals with His
crucifixion.
Jesus is the lamb of God who takes
away the sin of the world.
Dr. Mitchell examines what the
Bible says about the attitude of
the Jews to the person and work of
Jesus, their Messiah.
