August 30, 2021 Acts 23:1-11 - Prog 66
Luke now describes the beginning
defense the apostle Paul sets before the council in Jerusalem. He had been
brought there by the Roman tribune
to find out the real reason why
the Jews were accusing Paul.
Paul’s defense centers around the
hope and the resurrection of the
dead.
Both Jews and Christians have the
hope of resurrection from the dead.
Did not Jesus say, in John 6:40:
“For this is the will of my Father,
that everyone who looks on the Son
and believes in him may have
eternal life, and I will raise him
up on the last day”?
But Jesus bases this resurrection
on “looking on the Son of God” whom
God did raise up from out of the dead.

August 27, 2021 Acts 22:17-30 - Prog 65
Paul, finishing up his testimony
of faith in Christ, had the
people’s ear until he told them how
the Lord had told him to go to the
gentiles. Then the people began to
shout and cry out and throw dust
into the air as a sign of disgust.

Do you find those who show disgust
toward you when giving your own
personal testimony of how God has
changed your life by faith in the
Lord Jesus Christ? Even among
those who say they believe in God?

Jesus said in John 15:21, “But all
these things they will do to you
on account of My Name, because
they do not know Him who sent Me.”
Paul made use of his rights as a
Roman citizen to protect himself
from an unjust punishment.
In Acts 22:17, Dr. John G.

August 26, 2021 Acts 22:1-16 - Prog 64
After having been falsely
accused Paul now makes his defense
before the people in Jerusalem.
We are in Acts 22:1. Paul’s
audience consisted of the Jewish
people, the priests and the Roman
soldiers.
Paul, having spoken to the soldier
in Greek then speaks to the people
in the Hebrew dialect.
Paul demonstrates his ability to
speak in a language which the
listeners can understand.
Do you give your testimony to
others of how you came to know
Jesus as your savior?
Dr. Mitchell outlines that Paul
gave his testimony of life before
his conversion - a zealous persecutor. Then his conversion
in the presence of Jesus who asked
why he was persecuting Him.
And now, after his conversion, a
preacher of the gospel.

August 25, 2021 Acts 21:18-40 - Prog 63
In our study, we see the Apostle
Paul in the Jerusalem church,
sharing what God had done
in his ministry. He is then
encouraged to demonstrate his
obedience to the law by going to
the temple to fulfill the days
of purification and it’s
accompanying offerings.
Paul’s motive was right on as he
had previously written
in 1Cor.9:20 that “to the Jews he
became a Jew and to those under the
law as one under the law, though
not being myself under the law,
that I might win those under the
law. I have become all things to
all people that I might save some.”
But, some of the unbelieving Jews
made accusation against Paul built
on a “supposition”.
Here is a warning once again to
check one’s supposition when making
bold statements.

The word of God’s grace is able to
build you up and to give you an
inheritance among all those who are
sanctified. We trust God is using
the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast
to build you up and to give you His
grace for your everyday life.
This study in Acts begins at
chapter 20 verse 31. Here we have
the apostle Paul’s overview of
God’s sufficiency in providing him
with the necessities of life and
ministry by his own labor from
which he was able to show
generosity.
Here Paul quotes the words of the
Lord Jesus who said, “It is more
blessed to give than to receive.”
Luke in chapter 21 again includes
himself in the ensuing journey to
Jerusalem writing the Holy Spirit’s
warnings to the apostle.

August 23, 2021 Acts 20:21-30 - Prog 61
Our study in Acts continues in
chapter 20 verse 21. Dr. Mitchell
takes up the theme of Paul’s
ministry.
In 1Cor.2:1-5, Paul determined to
know nothing among them, but Jesus
Christ and Him crucified. The
Person and work of the Lord Jesus
Christ is the over arching theme of
his entire ministry. He preached
repentance toward God and faith in
the Lord Jesus Christ to both Jews
and Gentiles, to those of low
position and to those of high
position. For there is no
distinction, for all have sinned
and fallen short of the glory of
God.
You and I who have heard the
gospel of the grace of God and
placed our faith in Christ, God
gives assurance of eternal life.
Dr. Mitchell covers the theme and
the burden of the ministry, on the

August 20, 2021 Acts 20:13-24 - Prog 60
Luke writes of his journey with
Paul sailing to several cities
along the mediterranean coast until
they came to Miletus.
So having come to Miletus, Paul did
not want to stop in Ephesus, so he
called the elders of the church in
Ephesus to come to him there. His
purpose was to give these dear
believers his final farewell.
This would be the last time they
would see him.
Dr. Mitchell will be looking at
the spirit of Paul’s ministry,
the diligence of Paul’s ministry
and the burden of Paul’s ministry
in our study.
So let’s look at the spirit
of the ministry in verses 18-19.
Then the diligence of the
ministry, vs.20-21.

August 19, 2021 Acts 19:28 - 20:12 - Prog 59
We continue our study in Acts 19.
Let's begin at verse 28 where Luke
writes of the riot that occurred
in Ephesus. It was instigated because
the idol making businesses were
being impacted by the preaching
of Paul concerning the living and
true God seen in Jesus Christ.
In this passage Paul is prevented
from addressing the riotous men.
In due time, the town clerk of Ephesus
quieted the crowd and wisely addressed
the fact they were not a lawful
assembly and the government would
not stand for such a riot. He told them
there were law courts for such complaints.
Then Luke, joining Paul, continues to relate
how Paul had traveled to Troas where he
preached a very lengthy message.
Dr. Mitchell shares how time was forgotten
when this message was preached all night
until daybreak.
Are we hungry to spend time hearing the
Word of God?

August 18, 2021 Acts 19:19-28 - Prog 58
After the Word of the Lord made
such an inroad to the people of
Ephesus, Paul decided to go to
Jerusalem and from there to Rome as
well. So, sending two of his
helpers to Macedonia, Timothy
and Erastus, he stayed in Asia.
During this time, a certain
silversmith had a lucrative trade
making idols of a certain mythical
female named Artemis, or Diana.
Because of Paul’s preaching the
gospel of the true and living God,
those who heard the Gospel of God
and believed turned to God and
away from their idols to wait for
Jesus.
This caused quite an impact on the
idol making business as their
profits began declining. Well this
caused the tradesmen to begin a
mindless uproar with shouting for
the space of two hours.
Here with the gospel is Dr.
Mitchell, on the Unchanging Word

August 17, 2021 Acts 19:8-20 - Prog 57
Our study in the book of Acts
resumes in Chapter 19 where
Dr. Mitchell marks off three
sections beginning first
at vss 8-12 - the Gospel’s
power.
Here Paul speaks out in the
synagogue in Ephesus for three
months. But there was opposition to
the message. So Paul gathering
those who believed the message took
them to a school where he reasoned
with them for two years.
The second - vss.13-16 is the
Gospel’s opposition.
Seven sons of an high priest
tried to imitate the power of the
gospel by casting out a demon.
Since they did not know the Lord
Himself, the demon over powered
them.
The third - vss.17-20 is the
Gospel‘s fruitage.
The Word of the Lord produced
cleansing in all who believed and
grew.
