September 13, 2021 What Did Jesus Do at the Cross - Justification - Romans 3:24, 5:1, 1 Corinthians 5:21 - Prog 10
Our study in this lesson now
examines the doctrine of
justification.
Dr. Mitchell reviews redemption and
the 3 things from which we have
been redeemed. Then he looks at the
truth of justification. It is not
enough to have our sins gone, which
is a subtraction, but we must have
an addition, God own righteousness.
What does God add? He adds Christ’s
righteousness to us.
He adds His own holy righteousness
so that we can stand with Him on
His own foundation.
2 Cor.5:21 For He made Him who knew
no sin to be sin on our behalf
(that is we who knew no
righteousness) that we might become
the righteousness of God in Him.
Let’s turn to Romans 5:1 with Dr.
Mitchell as He examines the doctrine of justification which is guaranteed by Jesus’ resurrection.

September 10, 2021 Acts 27-28 - Prog 75
After some overview of what he covered
in previous lessons, Dr. Mitchell now
covers the last chapter of Acts. 28:1
with the encouragement of the saints
which Paul found from the brethren in
Rome.
Can you be an encouragement to someone
today? In Galatians 6: it is written,
"As we can, Let us do good to all men,
especially to those who are of the
household of the faith."
Paul, after three days, he called together the Jews.
He speaks to them.
Some believed and some did not.
Here Paul clears himself of any charge
of not being for his Jewish kinsman.
The chapter ends with Paul, dwelling in
his own rented quarters, welcoming all
who came to him, preaching the kingdom
of God and teaching the things of the
Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness.

September 09, 2021 Acts 27-28 - Prog 74
As we near the end of the book of Acts,
we are in chapter 27.
In this chapter, we learn how the Lord
was with Paul during a harrowing and
hazardous journey by sea to Rome.
Dr. Mitchell gives us more of an
overview by reading the majority of this
chapter of what Luke records as he is
himself on board the ship with Paul.
There were 276 souls on board during
this voyage. Yet, Paul stands out as
God's man in the midst of the storm
tossed sea with the people on board.
There were soldiers, sailors, and
others along with Paul and Luke.
Lord disclosed to Paul that he
and all with him would be safely
brought to land.
Let's turn to Acts 27:1 with Dr. Mitchell as he narrates the storm tossed voyage to Rome.

September 08, 2021 Acts 26:24-32 - Prog 73
Our study begins in Acts 26:24.
The apostle Paul gave the gospel
to the Roman authorities, both Festus
and King Agrippa.
It proved to be too much for Festus,so
he accuses Paul of being out of
his mind. Paul responds, "I am not out
of my mind, most excellent Festus; but I
declare words of truth and
rationality."
Then, Paul, bold enough to address the
King himself, says, "King Agrippa, do
you believe the prophets? I know you do
believe." The King seemed almost
"...persuaded to become a christian".
Dr. Mitchell notes: Is the king being sarcastic
or is he being serious?
After this, the authorities rose up and
went out saying to one another,
"This man might have been set at liberty
if he had not appealed to Caesar.

encouragement he received from hearing

We are in Acts 26:18 as Paul the apostle
continues his testimony and defense

which declare the Lord Jesus as the
light of the world in which those who
know Him can walk with Him in the light.
As we continue to walk in the light,
the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses

September 06, 2021 Acts 26:9-18 - Prog 71
Our study in the Book of Acts continues
in chapter 26:9 as Luke writes of Paul's
defense before King of Agrippa.
Recall that, Luke first gives the
historical occurrence of Paul's
conversion in Acts 9, providing an
objective view.
Then Paul recounts his own conversion
from his point of view 2 more times.
Each time, he adds some facts which we
did not know at the first.
The apostle Paul is speaking of how the
Lord Jesus appeared to Him commissioning
him to be an apostle to the gentiles.
Specifically, Paul is called to "open
their eyes, that they may turn from
darkness to light and from the power of
Satan to God inorder that they may
receive forgiveness of sins and an
inheritance...."
Dr. Mitchell gives more light
on the subject, Acts 26:9. This is the

September 03, 2021 Acts 25:1 - 26:8 - Prog 70
In this study, we cover the entire
chapter 25 of Acts.
Dr. Mitchell notes, the issue
is once again Paul’s defense of the
resurrection even though the same
three accusations were once again
brought against the apostle.
The gentile Roman authorities were
at a stand still as to what should
be done, since the issue, as far as
they were concerned, amounted to
nothing more than Paul saying
a certain dead man, Jesus,
is actually alive.
Paul wrote in 1Cor. 2:8 that
“..none of the rulers of this world
knew the wisdom of God. For if they
had known it, they would not have
crucified the Lord of glory.”
They did not know God’s wisdom ...
the person and work of our savior
the Lord Jesus Christ, so they did
crucify Him.
Let’s turn to Acts 25:1 with Dr.

September 02, 2021 Acts 24:17-27 - Prog 69
Paul continues his defense before
Felix the governor. Stating that
he always exercises himself to have
his conscience clear before both
God and man, he proceeds to account
for his actions in the temple in
Jerusalem.
All Paul did was tell the truth of
what he did. It is noteworthy that
none of the opposition could present
any contrary evidence.
Felix then decides to stop the
proceedings inorder to give time
for the Roman tribune, Lysias, and
Felix with his Jewish wife,
Drusilla to enter.
This gave Paul an occasion to speak
to Felix about the gospel. As we
read, it caused no small discomfort
to Felix because Paul reasoned of
righteousness, self-control and of
the judgment to come.
What the governor really was hoping
for was a pay-off from Paul.

September 01, 2021 Acts 24:1-16 - Prog 68
In this 24th chapter of Acts, Luke
continues to relate the opposition
towards the Apostle Paul appearing
in the presence of Felix in Caesarea.
This time, a certain lawyer named
Tertullus speaks both flattery
towards Felix the governor and
lying accusations against Paul with
the unbelieving Jews in hearty
agreement.
As we read this passage, we see
that the opposition has put forth
baseless accusations which in fact
they could not prove.
Next, Paul is given the nod to
present his defense.
Paul puts forth, once again, his
hope in God who declares the
resurrection of both the just and
the unjust. This he read and
believed from the Old Testament
revelation.
Job 19:25-27 Job knows His redeemer
lives and that he will see Him even
in his own risen body.
Here is Dr. Mitchell, Acts 24:1.

August 31, 2021 Acts 23:12-35 - Prog 67
During the night, The Lord Jesus,
standing by Paul, encouraged him
personally.
He told Paul, “Take courage, for
as you have testified to the facts
about Me in Jerusalem, so you must
testify also in Rome.”
What an encouragement from the Lord
to declare that Paul had indeed
testified to Him in Jerusalem
but then also the Lord gave Paul
His future assurance to where he
would next bear witness to the
risen son of God.
His Divine direction!
An evil plan was being initiated by
over 40 Jews to kill Paul. It might
have happened except for the
listening ears of Paul’s nephew who
went to Paul, informed him of it.
Paul sent him to tell the Roman
tribune of the plot.
