June 08, 2021 Acts 1:21 - 2:1 - Prog 07
After the upper room prayer meeting, Peter stood up
announcing that it was necessary to choose another apostle
to replace Judas Iscariot. A true apostle must be uniquely
qualified as having been with Jesus from the beginning of
John the Baptist’s ministry until Jesus’ ascension to heaven.
We are in Acts chapter 1:21 on the Unchanging Word Bible
Broadcast with Dr. John G. Mitchell.
In this lesson Dr. Mitchell goes into more depth on the
choosing of another apostle to replace Judas who betrayed
the Lord and then hanged himself out of remorse.
Next, Dr. Mitchell takes a few minutes to explore chapter 2
verse 1 which speaks of the day of Pentecost when the
Holy Spirit from heaven filled the house where they were
sitting.
In Acts 1 verse 21, Dr. Mitchell explains more truth of the
early days of the church.

June 07, 2021 Acts 1:11-16 - Prog 06
The Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast begins this Bible study
in Acts 1:11-26. Thank you for listening along with us.

Luke writes that after the two angels had questioned the
disciples, they assured them this same Jesus would return in
just the same way as they saw Him ascend into heaven.
So, Dr. Mitchell will give us several scriptures concerning
the coming of the Lord, both at the rapture in the air and
then the 2nd coming of Jesus to the earth.
Luke writes that the 11 disciples, along with Mary the mother
of Jesus and Jesus’ half brothers all went into an upper room
where they held a prayer meeting.
Later on, two of Jesus’ brothers, James and Jude wrote their
books.
Let’s turn in our Bibles to Acts 1 verse 11 as Dr. Mitchell
speaks to us of our Lord Jesus.

June 04, 2021 Acts 1:9-10 - Prog 05
Our study in Acts begins with Dr. Mitchell explaining the
reasons Jesus went back to heaven. We are in Acts 1:9
Dr. Mitchell states, that the Lord Jesus is in heaven
preparing a place for us who know Him and He is preparing us
here on earth for that place in heaven. Dr. Mitchell
recounts several scriptures which describe what our
Lord Jesus Christ is doing in heaven on our behalf.
Hebrews 7:25, “Since He continues forever, He is able to
save forever all those who draw near to God through Him
since He ever lives to make intercession for them”.
Hebrews 10:13 also states that Jesus, in heaven, is waiting
til His enemies be made a footstool for His feet.
Did you know, Jesus still has enemies on earth?

June 03, 2021 Acts 1:9-10 - Prog 04
In the book of Acts we are in chapter 1 verse 9.

After the Lord had given instructions to His disciples,
He ascends into a cloud as the disciples were looking on,
and He disappeared into the cloud.

As Luke tells us, two men stood by them and asking why
they were looking into heaven. These two men in white robes
were angels who knew something about Jesus and His 2nd
coming as well. These were the words they said.
“This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven
shall come in the same way as you saw Him go into heaven”.
God’s messengers point people to the
risen Jesus.

Dr. Mitchell speaks of our Lord’s ministry to us in heaven
since He sent the Holy Spirit as He said He would.

Dr. Mitchell speaks of our exalted Christ, Acts 1:9

June 01, 2021 Acts 1:1-3 - Prog 02
Dr. Mitchell gives us a perspective on the numbers who were
saved as recorded in the first 5 chapters.
He also relates how Peter stands out in the first twelve
chapters of Acts, while Paul is prominent in chapters 13-28.
As we said previously, even though in the book of Acts there
is going to be a transition from a focus on Israel and the
kingdom of God to the building of the church, Jesus never
the less spoke to the disciples about the kingdom of God
in the 40 days between His resurrection and ascension.vs.3.
We continue our study in Acts beginning in verse 1.The book
of Acts begins with resurrected Son of God, Jesus Christ.
The disciples spent 40 days with our Lord, eating and
drinking with Him.

May 31, 2021 Acts 1:1 Introduction - Prog 01
The book of Acts was written by Luke, the beloved physician
and accurate historian to his friend, the most excellent, Theophilus. We will
find his own words and his presence in this book as he
journeys with the Apostle Paul.
The Gospel of Matthew is the transitional book from
the Old Testament to the New giving the reader a divine
perspective of the movement of God to a new divine reality,
the person of Jesus Christ, His birth, life, death,
resurrection and ascension of Jesus the Christ. Such is
Acts. It is a transition as it introduces God’s church built
on the person and work Christ.
The book of Acts notes the divine changes from a focus on
Israel and the kingdom of God to the church being built by
Christ.
This church was first spoken of by Jesus in Matthew 16:18
where our Lord said to Peter and all the disciples,
“upon this rock I will build My church, and the gates of
hades will not overpower it.”
Jesus spoke of the rock of the divine revelation to the
disciples from God His Father as to the identity of His
person as Jesus the Christ the Son of the living God.
In this lesson, Dr. Mitchell give us an overview of the book
of Acts in his introduction, Acts. 1:1 on the Unchanging
Word Bible Broadcast.

May 28, 2021 Gospel of Luke 24:45-53 - Prog 108
Picking up from where we left off, we now finish out
the Gospel of Luke here in chapter 24:45-53.
Jesus, after opening their minds to understand the
Scriptures concerning Him, He goes on to tell the disciples
what they should now preach and teach. They were first hand
witnesses of the risen Christ.
Jesus then tells them that once He has ascended to the
Father, He would send the promise of the Father.
What is this promise from the Father? The promise is the
Holy Spirit of God.
Luke finishes out this chapter with a similar description
of Jesus’ ascension into heaven, which he will continue in
his book, the book of Acts. The Lord then will send the
Holy Spirit, as He promised.
Let’s listen to Dr. Mitchell as he finishes this exposition
of the book of Luke chapter 24:45-53.

May 27, 2021 Gospel of Luke 24:45-46 - Prog 107
The Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast continues in Luke 24,
verses 45-46.
Dr. Mitchell takes time in this lesson to focus our
attention on the importance of the resurrection of Christ.
The resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ is the foundation
of the Christian faith.
The resurrection of Jesus in the same though glorified body
is God’s proof to you and me that He is perfectly satisfied
with the finished work of Christ.
As Dr. Mitchell states, God’s righteousness has been wholly
vindicated and God is now free to save anyone. Because of
this, there is now no longer a barrier between God and man.
Man can now be saved through faith in the risen Son of God,
Jesus Christ. You are now free to believe in Him, if you
will.
Dr. Mitchell speaks of the benefits of the resurrection of
Jesus, Luke 24:45-46.

May 26, 2021 Gospel of Luke 24:34-45 - Prog 106
The two disciples returned to Jerusalem to the 11 disciples.
They spoke of seeing and hearing the Lord Jesus on the road
and how He had opened the Scriptures to them.
We are in Luke 24:34 to begin. They told the 11 disciples
that the Lord had risen indeed and that He appeared to
Peter.
Dr. Mitchell goes on to speak of this special meeting
between the Savior and Peter who needed extra personal
encouragement.
Then we move on to Jesus’ appearance to all these disciples
to encourage and prove that He was Himself physically alive.
Our Lord directs their hearts to what the Scriptures said
about Him, the Christ, in the Law of Moses, the Psalms and
the prophets. The Lord exposits the Word of God to His
disciples.

May 25, 2021 Gospel of Luke 24:13-35 - Prog 105
From the Lord’s appearing to the women, Luke now presents
Jesus as appearing to two disciples traveling from
Jerusalem to Emmaus.
Luke presents post resurrection appearances of our Lord
Jesus Christ. Here, one of Jesus’ first ministries after
His resurrection was to present a Bible exposition of the
Christ, the Messiah from the scriptures which they had.
These scriptures are what we know as the Old Testament.
Jesus explained the things concerning Himself in all the
Scriptures.
Let me ask us, Do you seek to see Jesus in the Scriptures?
Hebrews 12:2-3 exhorts us to “consider Him who endured
hostilities and to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and
perfecter of faith”. Let’s do this.
