May 24, 2021 Gospel of Luke 23:50 - Prog 104
As we finish up chapter 23 of Luke we begin in verse 50. Luke introduces us to a man by the name of Joseph from the town of Arimathea. This man is written about in the other Gospels as well, Matt.27, Mark 15, John 19 along with Nicodemus. Jesus’ body needed to be buried before the sabbath day started, so there was a need for diligence on Joseph’s part to secure Jesus’ body and place Him in the tomb. As we find out, Joseph placed our Lord’s body in his own tomb which he had cut out of rock himself and a tombstone to roll over the opening. Dr. Mitchell goes on to chapter 24 and Jesus’ resurrection to gives us an exposition of the those that cared for the body of Christ and His resurrection on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, Luke 23:50.

May 21, 2021 Gospel of Luke 23:39-49 - Prog 103
We continue in Luke 23:39 on the Unchanging Word Bible
Broadcast.
In this lesson, the repentant thief is assured of being with
Jesus that day.
Likewise, Luke reveals the finished work of Christ on the
cross when he writes of the veil in the temple being torn in
half from top to bottom, which only God could do.
As Dr. Mitchell now notes, there is now no longer a barrier
between God and man. Our Lord Jesus broke down the barrier
on the cross by His shed blood. Now the way is wide open into the very presence of God Himself.
Will you come to Him today by faith? If you are now a
believer in Christ Jesus our Lord, be assured, the way is
always open to God.
We also learn of the Roman centurion's confession that
Jesus was indeed righteous!

May 20, 2021 Gospel of Luke 23:34-46 - Prog 102
As Dr. Mitchell says of Jesus ...”the Jews crucified One
who claimed to be the Son of God and the gentiles crucified
One in whom they found no fault.”
In the Gospel of Luke we resume in chapter 23:33.
Along with Jesus, Luke gives us a close up of
two criminals who were crucified and their words to Jesus.
Our Lord Jesus prayed and asked the Father to forgive them
as He hung on the cross. One of the thieves, with no good
works to bring to Jesus but only bad ones, turns to the Lord
in faith asking Jesus to remember him when Jesus comes
in His kingdom.
Our Lord updated the thief’s request for future remembrance
saying, “TODAY you shall be with Me in paradise”.
You too can know Jesus today.

May 19, 2021 Gospel of Luke 23:16-34 - Prog 101
Beginning in Luke 23 at verse 16, Pilate says he wants to
release Jesus but the crowd wants Jesus crucified,
no matter what. Sinful unbelief is adamant against the
Savior at all costs.
So, Pilate, under pressure, provides the people with a
criminal named of Barabbas in accord with a custom to
release a prisoner during Passover.
Then Pilate handed Barabbas to them and Jesus to
crucifixion.
Jesus is our substitute.
He bore the penalty that we, in our sin, deserve. He was the
just one who suffered on behalf of the unjust that He might
bring us to God.
Also, Luke brings out that two criminals were crucified at
the same time, one on the left and the other on the right side of Jesus. Jesus is at the center.

May 18, 2021 Gospel of Luke 23:1-15 - Prog 100
Our study turns to Luke 23 with Dr. Mitchell.
Now the Jewish leaders take Jesus to the civil court to
stand before Pilate, the governor of Judea.
Here, the question becomes, “What evil has He done?” In this
court, the issue is not the Person of our Lord, but the
character of Christ. What evil has He done? Is He really a
criminal against Rome?
When Pilate asked Jesus If He was the King of the Jews,
the Savior told Pilate, “It is as you say”, in other words,
“Yes, You said it”.
When Pilate found that Jesus was a Galilean, he sent Him to
Herod who was in town that day.
It is noteworthy that our Lord Jesus Christ unites His
enemies against Him and unites believers to Him.
Let’s turn to Luke 23 with Dr. Mitchell on the Unchanging

May 17, 2021 Gospel of Luke 22:63-71 - Prog 99
The Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast is in Luke 22 verses
63-71 to finish out this chapter.
Having given us Peter and his denials of our Lord, Luke now
presents Jesus in the custody of the temple guards. They
mocked Jesus and beat Him saying many blasphemous things about Him.
When morning came, the rulers gathered together to question
Jesus as to His identity. Are you the Christ? Are you the
Son of God?
As Dr. Mitchell emphasizes, the question before these
Jewish leaders had to do with the person of our Lord Jesus
Christ. Who is He? What does He say about Himself?
It is noteworthy that when these ask Jesus the question
“Are you the Son of God?” Jesus treated their words as
stating the truth of the fact behind the question. Jesus
states, “You said I am”.

May 14, 2021 Gospel of Luke 22:47-53 - Prog 98
We want to say thank you as did Dr. Mitchell for your
faithful prayer on behalf of this ministry.
The Word of God is indeed unchanging and God’s truth is
always true even now to this generation in these days.
Thank you for your support.
Dr. Mitchell continues with Luke’s account of our
Savior’s betrayal and arrest. Judas was guide to those
who arrested Jesus. As Jesus says in vs.53, this your hour
and the power of darkness. Yet, in Jn 18:5-6, When Jesus
asked His enemies who they were seeking. They said,
Jesus of Nazareth. When the Lord said “I Am”,
they all fell to the ground.
Here the Lord Jesus demonstrates the glory of His power in
a word. They needed to know they were not dealing with a
mere man, but God in the flesh Himself.

May 13, 2021 Gospel of Luke 22:35-46 - Prog 97
Our study resumes in Luke 22: 35. Here Jesus gives
the disciples His final instructions before proceeding to
the Mount of Olives to pray before being betrayed.

Jesus said that what was written of Him has a fulfillment of
Isa.53:12... “And He was numbered with the transgressors”
although He knew no sin nor did any sin and there was no
deceit in His mouth.

Then the major focus of this section of Scripture turns to
and centers on our Lord’s intense prayer in the Garden of
Gethsemane.

So much was the agony that an angel appeared to Him
inorder to strengthen Him. He prayed the same prayer 3
times, although here, Luke only mentions one time.

Our Lord still admonishes His sleepy disciples to rise and
pray inorder not to enter into temptation.

sin of the world.

one of us and raised again from the dead until He comes
again.
Our Lord confirms the difference between rulers and
servants, between one who exercises authority and one

for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him”.
