Unequal Sequel

UNEQUAL PREQUEL - S10 E02 - VERBAL DIORAMA ~

This time, Em joins us for Unequal Prequel, where the spotlight shifts from sequels to the films that dared to tell the story before the story. Together, we pick our Best Prequel, Worst Prequel and Dream Prequel, discussing the films that expanded beloved franchises, the ones that struggled to justify their existence, and the prequels we'd still love to see made.

Can a prequel enhance the original, or are they forever living in the shadow of what's to come? Expect passionate film chat, surprising choices, plenty of laughs and another wonderfully unequal conversation.

UNEQUAL SEQUEL - BONUS REVIEW EPISODE-MINIONS & MONSTERS ~

We’re asking whether this sequel builds on what came before or simply doubles down on the mayhem. Has the franchise found a fresh direction, or is it relying on familiar gags to keep audiences entertained?

We unpack the laughs, the characters and whether this latest chapter proves there’s still life in the Despicable Me universe.

On a side note we do dive in spoilers but it’s very clear when that happens because we do give out a big warning. So if you don't want it spoiled then stay clear of this episode.

UNEQUAL SEQUEL - BONUS REVIEW EPISODE- JACKASS: BEST AND LAST ~

This week on Unequal Sequel, we’re putting on the protective gear (not that it’ll help) for Jackass: Best and Last — the latest chapter in a franchise built on outrageous stunts, terrible ideas and somehow surviving them all.

After decades of broken bones, questionable decisions and unforgettable pranks, we’re asking whether this really is the perfect send-off for the Jackass crew, or just another excuse to put themselves through absolute misery. Has the series still got the magic to shock and entertain, or are the bruises finally starting to show?

We dive into the biggest stunts, the comedy, the chaos and the legacy of a franchise that somehow turned pain into an art form. Expect laughs, disbelief and one very unequal debate over whether this should really be their best... and last.

On a side note we do dive in spoilers but it’s very clear when that happens because we do give out a big warning. So if you don't want it spoiled then stay clear of this episode.

UNEQUAL SEQUEL - BONUS REVIEW EPISODE- TOY STORY 5 ~

This week on Unequal Sequel, we’re heading back to the toy box for Toy Story 5 — because apparently Andy's toys (and now Bonnie's) still have one more adventure left in them.

After one of the most complete endings in modern animation, we’re asking the big question: did this franchise really need another sequel? We dive into the returning favourites, the new additions and whether Pixar has found another story worth telling, or if this is a case of playing with nostalgia for one more payday.

Does Toy Story 5 justify reopening the toy box, or should the series have been left on the shelf? Expect nostalgic reflections, bold opinions and one very unequal sequel debate.

On a side note we do dive in spoilers but it’s very clear when that happens because we do give out a big warning. So if you don't want it spoiled then stay clear of this episode.

UNEQUAL PREQUEL - S10 E01 - NICK HELM ~

This week, the rules are reversed as Unequal Prequel makes its long-awaited debut — and so does the brilliant Nick Helm! Comedian, actor, musician and all-round force of nature, Nick joins Dave & Rich to dive into the world of prequels.

Together, they pick their Best Prequel, Worst Prequel, and Dream Prequel — celebrating the films that successfully went backwards, the ones that should have stayed in the past, and the stories that still deserve a beginning.

From franchise origins to questionable backstories, we ask whether prequels can ever escape the shadow of what comes next.

Expect strong opinions, unexpected choices, plenty of laughs and the welcome return of one of Unequal Sequel's favourite guests. 🎙️🎬

UNEQUAL SEQUEL - BONUS REVIEW EPISODE- SCARY MOVIE (2026) ~

This week on Unequal Sequel, we’re heading back to the world of ridiculous spoofs, chaotic pop culture references and jokes that absolutely should not work with Scary Movie (2026) — the return of the parody franchise after years away.

After taking aim at horror films, celebrity culture and literally anything happening at the cinema, we’re asking whether Scary Movie still has something to say in a world where films sometimes parody themselves. Does this sequel recapture the anarchic energy of the originals, or does it arrive years too late to the joke?

On a side note we do dive in spoilers but it’s very clear when that happens because we do give out a big warning. So if you don't want it spoiled then stay clear of this episode.

UNEQUAL SEQUEL - BONUS REVIEW EPISODE- STAR WARS: THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU ~

This week on Unequal Sequel, we’re heading to a galaxy far, far away for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu — the jump from streaming sensation to big-screen adventure.

After years of bounty hunting, beskar armour and Baby Yoda obsession, we’re asking whether Mando and Grogu make the leap to cinema feel essential… or just like an expensive extra episode. Does this expand the galaxy in meaningful ways, or rely too heavily on fan service and familiar faces?

We dive into the action, the legacy of modern Star Wars, and whether this latest chapter proves there’s still life in the franchise.

On a side note we do dive in spoilers but it’s very clear when that happens because we do give out a big warning. So if you don't want it spoiled then stay clear of this episode.

UNEQUAL SEQUEL - BONUS REVIEW EPISODE- MORTAL KOMBAT II~

After the reboot set the stage, we’re diving into the fatalities, fan service and franchise lore to see if this sequel truly levels up or just button-mashes its way through another tournament. Are the new fighters worth the hype? Does the story finally land a clean hit? And most importantly… has anyone learned how tournaments actually work yet?

On a side note we do dive in spoilers but it’s very clear when that happens because we do give out a big warning. So if you don't want it spoiled then stay clear of this episode.
