Self-Brainspotting is a form of psychotherapy that uses eye movements to access the deeper parts of the brain where negative emotions and traumatic memories are stored. This technique was developed by Dr. David Grand and is used to manage emotions such as anxiety, stress, and trauma. Practicing Self Brainspotting at home can be a very effective way to release negative emotions and improve your overall mental well-being.
The first step in practicing Self-Brainspotting is to identify the negative emotion or memory you want to work on. Once you've identified the emotion, you can find your "spot," which is the point in your visual field where you feel the emotion most strongly. Then, you can begin the Brainspotting process by focusing on the emotion or memory while focusing on that spot.
As you focus on your emotion or memory, you may notice a range of physical sensations and emotions. This is perfectly normal and a sign that Brainspotting is workings. As you continue to focus on the emotion, you may feel the intensity of the emotion decrease, and you may even feel a sense of relief or release.
Self Brainspotting has many benefits. By working through negative emotions and memories, you can reduce stress and anxiety, improve your mood, and increase your overall well-being. Self-Brainspotting can also help you develop a greater sense of self-awareness and understanding, which can be incredibly empowering. This technique can be done anywhere, at any time, making it a convenient and accessible tool for managing your mental health.
