Vikings Happy Hour

On this 🎙The Real Forno Show 🏈 - The 2022 season is officially over and the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 38-35 in one of the best on-field title games in NFL history. The game itself had a lot of storylines throughout and we will discuss them all, especially the fateful holding call at the end of the game.

The game also relates to the Minnesota Vikings in many ways. The NFL is a copycat league and the Vikings can take numerous things from both teams to help them craft a championship blueprint. There are two pieces up on Vikings Wire right now breaking them down for both teams.

We will also discuss the Vikings needing a cornerback and why they don't need to force one in the first round.

* Super Bowl LVII thoughts

* Officiating consistency

* What can the Vikings learn from the Super Bowl?

* The CB conundrum: An argument against cornerback with the first pick

All of that and more on Monday night’s The Real Forno Show! Live at 6 pm central.

On today’s episode of Two Old Bloggers🎙 - It took longer than expected, and fans feared the worst as defensive coordinators fell by the wayside, but in the long run, the Minnesota Vikings got their man. Brian Flores gave up waiting for a possible head coaching job with the Arizona Cardinals and accepted the defensive coordinator position with your Minnesota Vikings. What will he need to turn the 31st-ranked defense around? We’ll talk about it.

Continuing with our state of the Vikings series, we are looking at the offensive line in today's show. What players will be back and who are the free agents? Can Coach Chris Kuper make the squad better than it was last season? Will the Vikings target any linemen in free agency or the draft?

Finally, on today's show, we’ll talk about the future of Adam Thielen. Will he be a Minnesota Viking for the rest of his life? Will he be cut to save cap space? Will he accept a renegotiated contract? All these are on the table and more with today's show.

Darren and Dave will get into these themes and more on today’s 2OB.

Theme #1: Can Brian Flores turn the Vikings defense around?

Theme #2: The offensive line

Theme #3: SAdam Thielen’s future – in Minnesota or somewhere else?

On this 🎙The Real Forno Show 🏈 - *** BREAKING NEWS *** The Minnesota Vikings' search for a defensive coordinator is over. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and others confirming, the Pittsburgh Steelers defensive assistant Brian Flores is accepting the Vikings defensive coordinator position and Tyler reports on it to start off the show.

The Senior Bowl has been completed and the NFL draft is getting closer. We gathered a lot of information from a majority of the players that will be drafted come April. Your Minnesota Vikings will be part of that. They were spotted scouting players they will evaluate and place on their draft board. Did Kwesi Adofo-Mensah like what he saw?

Tyler Forness spent the entire week down in Mobile and had some major takeaways, including his top 10 players from the week. Will the Vikings select any of these guys?

Coming from that week, Tyler also has his second mock draft release for Vikings Wire early on Monday morning. Check it out HERE.

On today’s episode of Two Old Bloggers🎙 - The Minnesota Vikings keep moving forward and their off-season plans. The search for a new defensive coordinator continues and will have updates on that, Viking scouts and GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. We’re down in Mobile scouting the Senior Bowl and getting close-up looks at players that possibly might wear purple next year. They also had some scouts over at the East-West Shrine Game. We’ll look at some of those players as well.

First, we’re going to start by looking at the Vikings’ running back room. Dalvin Cook, will he or will he not be back for 2023? Yes, he is under contract, but releasing him could free up a significant amount of cap space. We have Ty Chandler and Kene Nwangwu backing him up, but will the Vikings need to look elsewhere either in free agency or the draft to fill out that room so they are ready for 2023? How will Kevin O’Connell use the running backs when he obviously favors the pass?

We have a new candidate in the pool for the defensive coordinator and we lost another. Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero was released from his contract late this week since Sean Payton has taken over as the new Broncos head coach. He has instantly moved to the top of the Vikings’ list. He has worked with both Kevin O’Connell and Kwesi Adofo-Mensah before and figures to be a great fit into the culture if he is hired, his background is quite impressive. Sean Desai has bowed out because of that interest in hiring Evero.

We’re going to look at some of the young talents that played this week at the Senior Bowl and at the East-West Shrine Game to see if any of those players might make the Vikings’ squad. Would you be interested in some of them? We have a history of selecting players at one of the two games, and Darren will take his deep thoughts on the subject and share it with you.

Darren and Dave will get into these themes and more on today’s 2OB.

Theme #1: Running backs

Theme #2: The Vikings’ DC search continues

Theme #3: Senior Bowl & East-West Shrine Game

On this 🎙The Real Forno Show 🏈 - The Minnesota Vikings are in the beginning stages of the offseason and that kicks into high gear this week as the Reese’s Senior Bowl is happening down in Mobile this week. Not only will the Vikings front office be down watching practice, but so will Climbing the Pocket! The host of The Real Forno Show Tyler will be joined by Vikings Happy Hour’s Myles and Matt scouting college prospects.

When it comes to the Senior Bowl, how can you keep track of all that is going on? What is the easiest way to watch? Why does practice matter more than the game?

We’ll look at 6 quarterbacks at the Senior Bowl and how they may developmental prospects for the Vikings. This, and another quick look at the defensive coordinator candidates that were interviewed and aspects of the schemes they run.

On today’s episode of Two Old Bloggers🎙 - The offensive player of the year is awarded to? We are compelled to ask the question as your Minnesota Vikings' very own Justin Jefferson not only has made the final selection for league MVP but also is one of three finalists for the offensive player of the year award.

First, we will talk about how the defensive coordinator search has progressed so far. We’ve already lost the possibility of Ryan Nielsen serving as DC because he took that position with the Atlanta Falcons. Currently, the Vikings have interviewed Steelers defensive assistant Brian Flores, their in-house assistant head coach, Mike Pettine, and Seattle defensive assistant, Sean Desai. What is the word on these individuals and how does Darren feel about them?

Then we’re excited to discuss the great season that Justin Jefferson had. There are two players in Vikings history that have won the award of offensive player of the year. The first was Fran Tarkenton, and the second was Adrian Peterson. Will Justin Jefferson be the third?

In the final theme, we will be looking at the trade possibilities of current Vikings players. What could net the Vikings the biggest gain if they are willing to trade someone to improve the team? There are many possibilities, but few that would produce the quality or quantity of draft selections needed to stay competitive and try to repeat a 13-win season. Would you trade any of these players? You might consider Justin Jefferson, Christian Darrisaw, Brian O’Neill, and Kirk Cousins off-limits, but who else does that leave? How about Danielle Hunter? Darren and Dave will get into these themes and more on today’s 2OB.

Theme #1: Who will be the Vikings defensive coordinator?

Theme #2: Justin Jefferson – a season for the ages

Theme #3: The Vikings top trading chip – Danielle Hunter

On this Vikings Happy Hour, we are excited to talk about the Minnesota Vikings' decision to move on from Ed Donatell. Will this result in the dawn of a more effective Vikings defense? Did they handle the communication of the decision well? Was he set up for failure from the get-go?

Then we’ll dive into the different defensive coordinator candidates we’ve interviewed since. From the likes of Brian Flores, Sean Desai, and Ryan Nielsen... we’ll talk about who we like and why. We’ll also talk about what they bring and what personnel we’d need to be successful. Also, discuss any additional candidates we may like.

Discussion topics the bartender has lined up for episode 081 are:

Ed Donatell firing - how it was handled

Different DC interviews and what we’d need to do to field a defense to fit their style

Was Kevin O'Connell snubbed for coach of the year?

Could the Vikings trade for Trey Lance?

On today’s episode of Two Old Bloggers🎙 - Was the 2022 Minnesota Vikings season a success? Was it a failure? How do you measure? That is a point-of-view question for most people. Sure, there are multiple ways to measure it from wins and loss, to stats of all types, boxscore and advanced, to win the Super Bowl or it’s a bust. How you feel about it comes down to your view.

Ed Donatell was released this week after a season where the defense underperformed compared to expectations and the rest of the league. Was it justified? There are names popping up like former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores, New Orleans Saints co-defensive coordinator Ryan Nielson, and Seattle Seahawks defensive assistant Sean Desai interview requests have been made. Will one of these 3 gentlemen replace Donatell, or someone else? How will the choice affect the Vikings’ free agency and draft strategy?

Speaking of the 2023 NFL Draft hosted in Kansas City, can Kwesi get a better hit rate on players that can make a difference in their rookie year than he did in 2022? With much change ahead, especially on the defensive side of the ball, along with the need to get cap compliant, a good draft will be imperative if the Vikings hope to repeat as NFC North Division Champions. Darren and Dave will get into these themes and more on today’s 2OB.

Theme #1: Was the first year under Kevin O’Connell and Kwesi Adofo-Mensah a success?

Theme #2: Donatell done as DC

Theme #3: Better drafting is needed to improve the defense
