Vikings Happy Hour

Flip and Eric on Viking Hot Takes are preparing to talk about the NFL Draft for your Minnesota Vikings. However, they're not willing to do it in the normal way that you’ve heard so far. There are some very interesting questions such as how the 2019 draft compares to this last one, especially considering what Kwesi Adofo-Mensah did this year. It should be lively. What’s your grade?

Tonight, Flip will battle Eric for the 34th episode of Viking Hot Takes on the Climbing The Pocket channel on Thursday night. In this episode, we’re not following the usual format of the show, we’re changing it up to asking “will the Vikings draft?” for 6 total prospects, 3 each in the 20 minute show:

Flip asks:

1. What’s your grade for the Vikings’ 2019 draft?

2. How does Kwesi compare to the other newly hired GMs?

3. What post-draft FAs should they target?

Eric asks:

1. Who was your favorite Vikings pick of the 2022 Draft?

2. Did the Vikings get enough back in trading down with their division rivals, the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers?

3. Is the London game an advantage or disadvantage for the Vikings?

Fan with us!!! Talk with Flip Mazzi @Flipmazzi, Eric Thompson @eric_j_thompson, and producer Dave @Luft_Krigare as part of a @Climb_ThePocket Network’s & @DailyNorseman’s production. Also, with our newest partner at CTP, Lake Monster Brewing @LakeMonsterBrew as we venture beneath the surface in search of something unknown and extraordinary. This is both in their wonderful selections and our coverage of your favorite team.

On Climbing The Pocket’s Vikings Happy Hour, we have Arif Hasan of the Athletic and founder of Norse Code on Daily Norseman. He joins the guys to talk about the Minnesota Vikings and how he thinks they did in the NFL Draft. Arif started what has been known as the Consensus Big Board. This has provided a more accurate indication of where evaluators and projector-type boards and the variances of specific players are. How did the Vikings do this year against that board? Did they reach, get significant value, or a combination of both? What do you think? Check out the other topics for the show below.

Your Minnesota Vikings have evaluated and weighed the prospects for the NFL Draft. Kwesi Adofo-Mensah held a press conference today where he showed his mastery of saying a lot and of nothing at the same time. Their draft board is set. Rehearsals have been done. Trade scenarios already worked through. All in preparation for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We all don’t know how the board will fall, or the Vikings will select, but here at Climbing the Pocket, we’ll try and divine it through out one and only, full 7 round mock draft. [Unfortunately, which turned into only three contentious rounds.] Who’s your favorite choice? How do you see the Purple drafting? Will cornerback be the first selection for Kwesi and Keven O’Connell? Who will the Vikings draft?

The NFL Draft is just a few days away starting on Thursday. There is very little time left for your Minnesota Vikings to rehearse as many scenarios as possible in the first-ever draft where Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Keven O’Connell are running the show. The previous regime left them with the #12 pick in the first round. Is it high enough to get the player they want? Will they trade down? What if they are stuck in the 12th pick purgatory where their coveted targets are lost and settling for the next guy on the list is a reach?

But first, Dave and Darren start a series on a handful of breakout players that we can expect. Taking a look at certain players who if they take their game to another level in 2022 could give the Vikings a real boost. This could enhance their chances of having a successful 2022 season. Entering his 4th season, and the third time we call for a breakout… Irv Smith Jr. Should he breakout? Yes. Can he stay healthy? He hasn’t the last two seasons, so we will see. From one question to another. With the mad money that is exploding for top wide receivers, what will that mean for the Vikings when they have to pay Justin Jefferson? We’ll take a look and see.

Two Old Bloggers are comprised of Dave and Darren, who both started blogging on the Purple decades ago. They will talk over issues and events in the offseason, so get ready for the Climbing The Pocket and Daily Norseman 2OB commentary and interaction show! Make sure to enjoy your favorite Lake Monster Brewing beverage as well. SKOL!

Theme #1: Breakout player: Irv Smith Jr.

Theme #2: Will Justin Jefferson be a Vikings in 2023?

Theme #3: Stuck in the middle - is it corner or bust?
