  • Vikings vs Giants - The GMG Preview Show - Ep 066
Vikings vs Giants… Good morning Horners! Oh, what a week we’ve had as fans! The GMG gang sat down to discuss it, from the reasons why Kirk Cousins prefers to throw the 4 yard check down to CJ Ham over launching it to an open receiver downfield, to one of the said receivers, Stefon Diggs starting to get his diva on. Ted explained that in pretty much a sane matter [he wrote about it too] and asked you, how would you feel?
Mike Zimmer leads the squad into Metlife Stadium in New Jersey to play the NY Giants this week in what should be a crucial game to the organization. “Crucial for  game 5” you ask? Yes, because of the hot and cold play of the team starting out 2-2. The record isn’t terrible, nor is it not recoverable, but it is how the Vikings played on the road that needs to change if the team wants to make a run into the playoffs at the end of the season. Dalvin Cook should figure in prominently in Sunday’s plans with how the G-Men play the run. They have a tendency to over pursue leading to wide open cutback lanes. Big Blue also has a pretty outstanding young RB themselves in Saquon Barkley who will test the run stopping ability of the Vikings defense if he does actually play but is still recovering from an ankle injury. That vaunted Minnesota defense will also go against the hottest rookie QB of the year, Danny Jones, better known as “Danny Dimes.” He has led the Giants to two consecutive victories in the last two weeks keeping them in play for the NFC East title if they keep it up. The Vikes will try to insure that doesn’t happen.
Drew releases another round of his patented trivia, Vikings vs Giants style and Ted is outstanding answering as usual, only needing Dave’s help once. LOL. Don Glover would be proud. Vikings vs Giants… Even though the records are the same, the Vikings are a much better team on paper. The question is, will they show it?

  • Vikings vs Bears - GMG in The Raw! - Ep 065
Vikings versus Bears… Good morning Horners! Well, maybe not so good. In a game where Mitch Trubisky was injured and backup quarterback Chase Daniels looked better than Kirk Cousins, the Vikings came in flat. When the team plays cold, it leads to one person… Mike Zimmer. Oh, there is blame all around in this one from the offseason moves that did or didn’t happen, the coaching on both sides of the ball, and QB that looks like he should be a backup yet is getting a guaranteed $84 million, and a decent defense that for a third game in a row let the Bears score on their opening drive. This was an absolutely frustrating game to watch as a Vikings fan and Ted, Drew and Dave felt it.
The offensive line in combination with the statuesque play by Cousins gave up 6 sacks on the day and 2 fumbles lost. The running game looked ineffective, but that was anticipated against such a good defense, but there was hope Akiem Hicks, Roquan Smith and Bilal Nichols were out. That hope quickly diminished as the Vikings only generated 40 yards on  the ground all day. In the air it wasn’t much better until late in the game when the team went to a hurry up and did not let Kirk think so much. He did end up going 27/36 for 233 yards, but most was at the end. Bad throws, poor choices and not seeing open receivers marked most of the day. It was painful to watch.
Please tell us your reactions to the game. Does this game change your prediction on the year, and if so, what will the consequences be?

  • Vikings vs Bears - GMG ep 064 - The Preview Show
Vikings versus Bears… Good morning Horners! Ted, Drew and Dave have assembled to discuss today’s game in Soldier Field against the Bears. In what can sometimes be like a house of horrors with weird stuff that always seems to happen, maybe even an alien burial ground as Ted hypothesized with Giorgio Tsoukalos a few years back. Two of the better defenses in the league will do battle to see who can shut down the opposing offense better. Which one can cause the other’s quarterback to make the most mistakes. Will it be Kirk Cousins or Mitch Trubisky that does just enough to help lead their squad to victory, or will they be the ones directly contributing to this all important NFC North Division loss? With the Packers losing Thursday and the Lions playing the Chiefs, the North looks to be wide open for the taking, and the winner of this game will definitely have an early season advantage on it. Will it be the beloved Minnesota Vikings or the Chicago Bears?
*** First, I would like to apologize for the audio issues of the last show. They have been ironed out and should not happen again. Of course Ted still sounds perfect as always, but Drew and Dave sound a lot better now too.
The Bears defense is ranked 3rd in points per game going into the contest after thoroughly destroying Case Keenum and the Redskins last week. The Vikings defense ranks 6th in the same category, so it looks to be a low scoring, slug it out game on a wet and slopping field. It is raining now and is not forecast to stop until just after kickoff. It will probably come down to which QB makes the fewest, or less costly mistakes. Hopefully the conditions will favor Dalvin Cook and the Vikings run game more. Then with the passing game, Cousins can exploit the Bears secondary with quick slants and routes splitting the zones. Look for Irv Smith Jr, Kyle Rudolph, Cook, and Alexander Mattison on just those types of plays. The screen game and quick passes with the opportune shot to Adam Thielen and a wide open Stefon Diggs would be great too.
Who will spy Trubisky and his ability to run. Anthony Barr or Eric Hendricks? It is Mitch’s only redeeming quality and it has driven the Vikings nuts. This week it must stop!
We get into some Vikings vs Bears Trivia and Ted nails just about all of it, from stories of famous Mike Ditka rants as the Bears were defeated by the Vikings, to even a Don Glover story and how he feels about Jay Cutler. Absolute fun stuff going into what should make for an outstanding Sunday.

  • FMF 303 | Wild Week Four
There's five count 'em FIVE big games in the NFL this weekend, and all four NFC North teams will be going at it. The Green Bay Packers play the Philadelphia Eagles in a game we hope ends in a tie. The Dallas Cowboys play the New Orleans Saints so we can cry about Teddy Bridgewater on Sunday Night. The Detroit Lions host the Kansas City Chiefs and reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes. The New England Patriots travel to upstate New York to Play the 3-0 Buffalo Bills. Our Minnesota Vikings play the Chicago Bears in a huge divisional clash.
This week presents a huge opportunity for our Vikes to move up in the NFC standings. And they're healthy for it, after getting back Pat Elflein and Mike Hughes Week 3. Anthony Barr and Mackensie Alexander could be back too. Josh Kline was the only Viking to miss Wednesday practice due his concussion. Chad Beebe got hurt, but the Vikings brought back Marcus Sherels or Laquon Treadwell to replace him. Maybe Jordan Matthews would have been better?
On offense, Irv Smith Jr, Kirk Cousins and Brian O'Neill are all streaking. We've gotta love how O'Neill is developing, even though he's got a tough match-up coming up against Khalil Mack. We're not sure yet about Garrett Bradbury, and we're hoping Akiem Hicks doesn't play.
On defense, the more Sack Daddy the better. Throw in Danielle Hunter too. They've got to lead the way to victory against Charles Leno. And you know what? Can we please get some more Eric Wilson? Let him chase down Tarik Cohen and David Montgomery.
Minnesota has a huge opportunity to strike back in the NFC North. 3-1 or 2-2 will look very different early on. All they need is their best players to STEP UP.
