To cut a long story short: Funk was invented by James Brown 1965. He formed a new beat: ONE two THREE four. Not the normal backbeat of afro-american music: One TWO three FOUR. That played with a lot of bass, dry drums, syncopated guitar and more talking than singing and you have a new musical style. And more than that: Brown became the Godfather of HipHop. With music from Funkadelic, Sly & The Family Stone, The Isley Brothers, Curtis Mayfield, War, Average White Band and others. No cooking or drinking, just funk.

Jerry Lee Lewis began as Rock’n’Roller, should have inherited the throne of Elvis but lost his own instead. Got a comeback as Country-Singer, fell down and rose again. There was a lot of tragic in Jerry’s life. And a lot of good music. Jerry Lee died in October 2022 at the age of 87. No cooking this time.

When Pink Floyd recorded Dark Side Of The Moon in 1972/73 they were at a turning point: They had left behind their avantgardistic beginnings with Syd Barett, now they were leaving behind their lengthy soundscapes like “Echoes” – the “noodelings” as David Gilmore called them. They wrote more personal songs and recorded them with groundbreaking studio technique and so created a masterpiece.
