  • The Last Call

Today's dose of "Vitamin D" is dedicated to the last call. Now, you may be familiar with the "last call" if you've ever been out at a club. The DJ- whoever the announcer is makes an announcement to say, "Hey, it's the last call for the alcohol" meaning you got a couple more minutes and that's it. Or perhaps you've been out to eat and they make a last call for the kitchen. Meaning if there's anything else that you want place your order in now because the kitchen is going to close. But have you ever thought about the "last call" to life? I mean, because there's no "do-over" with this right now. This right now is all we have. What are you doing with it? I was really charged to think about this on my way, driving into the studio.

I was listening to Khalid and his track "Last Call" and right in the opening of the track. He states "searched for what will set you free." God dog. And it just shook me real quick because I feel like a lot of us are captive. And I say that because we feel like there's so much time that we have. Now, I'm not saying to race or to put everything in a rush, but don't be so lackadaisical with it, because with this last call, we don't know when it's over. We don't know when it's done. And all we have is right now. And if you can imagine your purpose, your dreams, your desires, asking you and I quote to "meet me for a final dance," will you show up?

It's the last call. And as Khalid goes on to say, "you show me purpose and give me presents." Ain't that what life does? There's something about when you can get it in the now. Are you living your life in the now? Because this is the "last call." So the question becomes, "where do you start?" If life, your purpose, your dreams and aspirations extended its hand, would you take it? Just something to think about? You got one life to live. So live now and know this is the "last call." All right.

  • Are You Ready For (Self) Love?

Today's dose of "Vitamin D" is dedicated to love and I'm not talking about love for someone else. I'm talking about love for, to and with yourself. This came to me in my meditation this morning. I'm meditating on my heart chakra, and I'm understanding and realizing, but more importantly, embracing how important self-love is. It reminds me of the track with India.Arie "Ready for Love." In it she says, "I am ready for love. Why are you hiding from me?" Are you hiding from yourself? Are you showing up authentically for yourself? And you'll know that based on how you feel, based on how you show up and more importantly, why you show up. Are you allowing yourself to be seen? Are you allowing yourself to be heard?

Are you honoring yourself? You said that you're ready for love. So what does it look like? Sometimes I feel we have a tendency to judge ourself. Judge ourselves pretty harshly and not show so much grace. But there's rain in every rainbow for every down. You must come up. India says, "I am ready for love. All of the joy and the pain and all the time that it takes." How patient are you with yourself? I know you want to be great, but there steps to greatness. It's a process. Be gentle with yourself. Everything that's happening to you is actually happening for you. But are you loving yourself enough to see it? She continues on, "If you give me half a chance I'll prove this to you. I will be patient, kind, faithful and true." Can you do that for yourself?

Can you gift yourself that kind of love? If you are what you attract, what are you attracting in your life? I came across this tweet on Twitter from Idil Ahmed. Pardon me. If I mispronounce her name, it's I D I L A H M E D. She says and I quote, "When you start taking care of yourself, you start feeling better, you start looking better, and you even start to attract better. It always starts within."

So are you ready to laugh? Are you ready to love yourself? The time is now.

All right. That's it for your dose of "Vitamin D." Be sure to follow us on all social media @VitaminDDawnDai and until next time, always remember, "you are your greatest asset."

  • You Got It Going On

Today's dose of "Vitamin D" is dedicated to knowing that you got it going on and that comes from knowing who you are. Now we dictate that, I dictate that, you dictate that by how we carry ourselves. How we speak about ourselves. What we put on our bodies Who we surround ourselves with. All of these factors determine how we feel about ourselves. So we can say one thing, but oftentimes our actions can say something else. Now, when you know you got it going on on theres a certain confidence about you. It's usually an energy that's often felt before people even see you. And it comes from really, truly loving yourself. I was listening to the hit track "I Am Woman" by Emmy Meli and in it she says, "Fan of myself. I'm standing myself." How much do you love you? Do you love yourself as much as everybody that you follow on social media? Do you love yourself to be honest with yourself? Do you love yourself to speak truth and life over yourself? Do you love yourself enough to know that you are worthy? Distractions. They get in the way.

Oftentimes they come in the forms of thoughts, relationships, toxic relationships, bad habits. But even through all of that you realize how important patience is with yourself. See, when you love something, you hold on to it. When you love something, you keep working your way through it. Emmie goes on to say, "Only love can get inside me. I move in my own timing." Patience. Peace be still. Allow yourself time to get to know yourself. Sometimes these distractions, we try to avoid getting to know who we really are. Knowing what we stand for and damn sure what we ain't standing for. What we're going to tolerate and we're not going to tolerate. Really understanding the appreciation of self.

Now, oftentimes we look at people in different situations to dictate who we are. But I'm a firm believer of speaking life over yourself. And sometimes it has to come from you. Emmy says, "Voice of the future speak to me kindly." How are you speaking to yourself? Are you speaking words of affirmation? Are you speaking life? You know, your ear is like an embryo, whatever you put inside of it will grow. So what are you asking for?

What are you speaking over your life? You said you got it going on, right? Emmy says, and I quote, "I am what I like to be I ask for what I want. Somehow it finds me." When you know, you got it going on and there's a confidence of knowing who you are, because you love yourself, you realize that everything is working for your greater good. There's no need to move in haste. There's no need to rush things. There's kind of like a moment of "peace be still" because whether you going out there trying to chase after something, you realize that living on yourself, things find you. Things become attracted to you. What is attracting you? What are you attracted to? Now, when we talk about love and allowing things to come in, it's important to realize things that need to stay out.

Emmy goes on to say, "Hear no evil, speak no evil. I am not the one to cross. They can talk that shit about you. Long as you know it's false." Hmm. What did I say? Faith is knowing, right? Knowing God is having confidence. Knowing yourself is having confidence in yourself. "I am." Who do you say that you are? You got to block those voices. You got to block those thoughts. You got to do whatever you got to do to ensure that you know that you got it going on. You got to do whatever you got to do to know that you got it going on, because you do. So, yeah, we're speaking life over here because you got it going on, and I do too.

  • Declare More

Today's dose of "Vitamin D" is dedicated to declaring more. What do you want for your life? I hope that it's more than what you have right now, because that's what we call growth. That's what we call getting to our purpose, getting to our victory, getting to our peace. Because we don't stop growing until we did, right? And it makes me think about this track, "I Am More" by the vocal collective featuring Champ Johnson, who, Champ Johnson, I met at One Church, L.A. He was part of the choir. I'm not sure how we connected, but we did. And I remember when he came out with this track a couple of years ago, how it resonated with me, but it revisited me when I was on my walk and I just heard "I am more."

It hit me because, you know, when my mom died, I got two tattoos. I got her signature "J", and then I got a greater than equal to sign. I got it because in the moments of despair and I'm looking down, I look to my left on my right, on my wrist, I'm reminded of my mama. Everything I am is because of Janice Hill and I look at the right and this greater than equal to sign says "I'm greater than anything that can come my way and stronger than I was the day before." I am more. Now, in listening to this track, it's interesting how when we look on the outside in things can get in our way and in it it says, "I am more than what the world can make me out to be."

You cannot allow other people to dictate You. You cannot allow other circumstance to dictate you. You dictate YOU. What do you see when you see yourself? And a lot of times we want to place things on the "enemy." An "outside" force and even in the track it says, "I am more than what the enemy wants me to see." Fear is what you do not know. Half the time we fear things because we are uncertain. But there is a confidence in the knowing who you are and what you're meant to do and who you're meant to be. The track goes on to say, "I am more than distractions that are meant to rob my power. What are your distractions?

Is it the toxic relationship? Is it overeating? Is it social media? Is it being so consumed with the destination that you forgot the journey? You are so caught up on getting there that you forgot about what you got to pick up on your way to get there. Those are the tools that you need. But more importantly, hear me when I say this... I am more. More than anything that comes my way to hinder me from my destiny, from gaining my true victory. From this day on, I need you to declare that you are more because you are. Whatever that depression, whatever that anxiety, whatever that self-doubt, whatever that uncertainty know that you are more and you know that you are more because you woke up today.

You know that you are more because you are listening to me right now. You are more because you're worthy. And what do I say? Whatever doesn't serve you doesn't deserve you. Get to the point that you start walking over the things that you used to trip over. So go ahead and declare it. I am more because you are.

  • Tell Me What You Want

Today's dose of "Vitamin D" is dedicated to what you want, what you are really, really want. So I got to ask you, what do you want out of life? They say our choices dictate our desires and wants. So if you are not receiving what it is that you desire out of life and what you want, then perhaps there needs to be some look on the choices that you have decided to make in your life. I mean, heck, if we look at it just alphabetically-wise, if we look at from the time that we are born to the time that we are dying. You have a "B" for birth, a "D" death. The only letter in between is a "C" for choice. What are you choosing or how are you choosing to live your life?

See, I can say all day or you can say all day how you want to lose weight. Are you working out? Are you eating properly? Now you say you ready for a relationship. Have you gotten down to getting to know and have a relationship with yourself? Have you made room for yourself to exist? Are you in a space where you're vulnerable enough or even have made room for somebody to coexist in your life? You said you want that car. You want a new home, but what's your credit looking like? Did you save enough money? Do you have enough for the down payment? Again, what are the choices you're making in your life? It made me think about the Spice Girls. Remember that track, "Tell Me What You Want" and they were like, "So tell me what you want what you really really want. I'll tell you what I want. What I really really I want to. I want to."

What do you want? That's the time-old question. Half the time maybe that's the hardest part about it. Getting our desires and our wants because we aren't able to identify. I think half the time we think that we want something. But based on the choices that we're making, is that something completely different? So I have to ask you, "what do you want?" Better yet, tell me what you want. Better yet, show me what you want. Better yet, show yourself what you want. That's the challenge. Put it up to the test of yourself because at the end of the day it's always me versus me or you versus you. It's whoever you see when you look back in the mirror and then looking back at the choices that you make because it's already written that you can have whatever it is that you want out of life.

But just like anything of bearing fruit, a seed has to be planted. But we have to be cognizant of the soil that we're planting the seed in. Where is your seed growing? Hmm? Do you have your desires and your wants out of life? "So tell me what you want, what you really, really want." You know what I want? I want to be great. I want to be powerful beyond measure. I want the world to know my name. I want somebody to say, "because Dawn can I knew that I could." I want somebody to see me and say that I'm possible. I want my yacht. I want my home with the infinity pool, with the view of the ocean. I want to be on all the TV screens and on the radio, and you just hear me. I want love.

So I myself have to look back on my choices because our choices dictate our desires and our wants. So here I go again. "Tell me what you want, what you really, really want." All right.

  • Can You See The Change?

Today's dose of "Vitamin D" is dedicated to change. Change. The modification, the altercation, the altering. Basically something different. Change that you see in yourself and embracing that change. Change is uncomfortable. I like to think change is synonymous with growth because growth, it's an evolution. But more importantly, it's a process. And it makes me think of this track. "I Can See The Change" by Celeste. And in it she says, "I can see the change. Come what may, I won't regret today. I can see the change. Feel the pace of everything. Who am I? teary-eyed? Who are you in your life?" See, we talk about change. We talk about wanting more, but we forget about the process.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. We ask God to grow, and then it starts raining. But you understand that that rain are the new trees that you need for growth. But then she continue on to say, "Are you dumb enough to pass the time? Oversold and out of lies?" At what point do you say you want to change and you allow yourself to change? See, we overextend ourselves in different circumstances and different things saying we want to change, basically overselling ourselves and telling these lies over and over again. But what happens when they run out? What happens when you're all cried out? Do you stay the same? Or do you change? She says, "I can see the change better than I ever could before. I am what remains different and the same frame that I was."

We have to remember that change starts on the inside and we have to remind ourselves to not get caught up on what's around us. "Don't let what you see make you forget what God said." Just because things haven't esthetically changed immediately that you want it, understand that it has to start with your mind process. So what's going on in the inside? Oftentimes I feel would stop us from changing is that whole notion of standing out? She goes on to say, "Standing out. Like I need it now. Like a fool does. It doesn't mean I'll adjust..." that's my ellipses. Let the world digest a.k.a. be who you are. What allows a diamond to sign are the multitudes of cuts that have been placed within it.

Cuts of shame. Cuts of mistakes. Cuts of disgrace. Cuts of things that may not show the "perfection" or so we think. But realizing that when we step in the light you are perfectly imperfect. It also says that you're not afraid to be who you are. Half the time life passes us by because we don't want to be the fool. We don't want to be the one that stands out. But just like I said before, a star in the sky, twinkles in the sky at night and amidst all the blackness, it still stands out. So I'm asking you, can you see the change? Better yet, do you want the change? The time is now. To be everything that you've ever wanted to be. Standing out in spite of everything.

Just knowing that you can be free. I'ma be the change that I want to see. And I hope you will, too.

  • Believe In The Favor Over Your Life

Today's dose of "Vitamin D" is dedicated to belief... on the favor that you have over your life. The favor for what you want in your life and if you are a dreamer... having the belief that things will work out in your favor. You know, it's easier said than actually realized that everything is working for your greater good. But it's something about when you put that belief on it that makes it actually true. Because that belief gives you confidence. I was thinking about this track, "Things Will Work in Your Favor" by Tay and Tray Neely. I came across the song on Instagram. It went viral. This young boy- I say young. He look like he about a teenager- was on there just singing and tears were coming down his eyes as he was playing on the piano.

"Things will work in my favor. I just got to believe" Then sparingly, he say, "hold on." I don't know what it is that you want. I don't know what it is that you're going after, but let it be known that you just got to believe. Because there's something about putting that belief in that allows the next step and the next step to get you closer to where it wants you to be. It also serves as an anchor. So just in case the seasons change, just in case you may lose your fitting, you know, things will work in my favor. I just got to believe. Now, if you are a firm believer of speaking life. If your're firm believer in affirmations, you can see how this too can reign true. So then it comes down to what do you want?

Because if you already know, rest assured, that things will work in your favor... why are you spending time worrying yourself about it? Why are you spending sleepless nights? Now, I didn't say that things will work out the way that you want it, but know that it's working for your greater good. So although it's not shining like you want, although you're not receiving in the timing that you want, there is a faith and belief that things are working in your favor.

And you have to believe because Hell, you're going to spend so much time in NOT believing? What is that going to do for you? I don't know about you, but I'm thinking maybe I just need to ease my worries a bit. And having the faith and the confidence that everything is working for my greater good. In fact, if you look at some of the most successful people in the world, whether it be from money, whether it be from peace, they will tell you there is the sure none doubt a belief that they had in themselves.

You know what I say, "Don't let what you see make you forget what God said." There's a belief in knowing there is a confidence in knowing. So I must ask you "what do you know about yourself that reigns true?" Things will work in my favor. I just got to believe and I hope you will too.

That's it for your dose of "Vitamin D." Be sure to follow us on all social media @VitaminDDawnDai and until next time, always remember, "you are your greatest asset."
