Today’s dose of “Vitamin D” is dedicated to living your life. I need you to be honest with yourself. Can you really say that you are living the life that you’ve always dreamed of? Are you being unapologetic with your dreams and ambitions? Are you loving yourself the right way? Are you free to love whomever it is that you love? These are all questions that you must think about. Often times we get caught up in jibber-jabber of other people’s thoughts, views and opinions that we drown out our very own. We get lost in the sauce. However, imagine what life would be like living on your own terms. Imagine the freedom, the joy and the happiness that's generated by just staying true to you.
In 1969, famed singer Frank Sinatra released the classic track “My Way” which he belts, “I'll state my case, of which I'm certain. I've lived a life that's full…I did it my way.” The wait is over. I need you to get up, charge up and fuel up on living the life you’ve always imagined. Look, the only thing that’s certain in life is that you will die. So why not live while you’re still alive? Don’t worry about being great. Go out there and take a chance on yourself. Try something new. Prove to yourself that you are worth it because when it’s all said and done, no one can live your life for you. At the very least you can say, “I did it my way….”

Today’s dose of “Vitamin D” is dedicated to your peace of mind. Let’s do a self-check-in...how do you feel right now? Like, in this exact moment. Do you find yourself feeling depressed over something that's happened to you in your past? Or do you find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat anxious about what’s to come. Either way, you’re everywhere but here, right now. Peace be still.
In the hit single “Just Be” by DJ Khaled featuring Justin Timberlake, Justin declares how important it is to be “mindful of the future [yet] still be grateful for the past” all the while not neglecting the gift of the present. Often times we find ourselves playing back old scenarios in our head of what we could have, should have or would have done differently, but the reality is, it’s not going to change anything right now, nor will stressing ourselves out about tomorrow’s tomorrow help either, so just stop. Stop robbing yourself of your peace. Your joy. Just be. Be everything that you are right here, right now. “All [we] got is right here and right now” and we gotta “make the moment last,” Break free of any expectations and only subscribe to the reality of you. Right here, Right now. Your only requirement is to just be.

Today’s dose of "Vitamin D" is dedicated to the “Underdogs,” to those who are so easily counted out... I believe in you, but the question is, "Do you believe in yourself?"
You know there’s something to be said about the underdog. They turn the impossible into “I’m possible,” whether it’s Taraji P. Henson moving to LA with only $700 to her name with her toddler son, to being an award-winning actress. Or steve Harvey growing up with a severe speech impediment and being told he would never make it on tv to becoming an award-winning tv host. Or how about Cardi B? Growing up in the Bronx as a stripper to being the first female rapper to have 5 number 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. Hey, it’s possible because you’re possible! Did you know that when I first applied to Howard, I didn’t get accepted? But I didn’t give up. I still ended up graduating from Howard with honors and hosted my own graduation. Yeah, I’m possible and so are you.
Just like Alicia Keys belts in her hit single “Underdog”, it’s important that you remind yourself that although “they said I would never make it... I was built to break the mold, the only dream that I’ve been chasing is my own.” What’s your dream? You know you gotta want your dream as bad as you want to breathe, right? Despite how hard it gets, you can’t give up. You have to “keep on keeping at what you love. You’ll find that someday soon enough, you will rise up.”
Well, that’s it for your dose of “Vitamin D,” be sure to follow me on all social media @dawndaispeaks and until next time... always remember, “YOU are your greatest asset.”

Today’s dose of “Vitamin D” is dedicated to true love. No… I’m not talking about the fairytale kind of true love. I mean genuine care and concern for someone to be loved in the most authentic way possible. have you heard the saying, “You don’t love me, you love the idea of me”?
Do these words resonate with you? Shoot, some of us don’t realize that this is how we treat those we get in relationships with. In the hit song “Mango” by Kamauu featuring Adeline, he belts, “I don't want nothin’ but you getting what you need even if it ain't from me.” Did you catch it? When you truly love someone or someone truly loves you, they will always want the best for you despite if it means they lose you in the process. Because “giving it up is not giving up.” It’s creating space for it to be free.
So many of us are not taught growing up what it looks like to authentically love someone. we are taught to go after a certain type of outward appearance or the idea of someone when it comes to a relationship. We must unlearn to learn “what love is... never selfish... and of service... on purpose.”
This isn't easy. I will acknowledge that, but you have to start small. Learn to be the person who creates a space for a relationship where the other person knows that it's safe to be vulnerable in. You can’t control how other people treat you, but you can set the standard for yourself. Be the difference. Be the love you wish you had and the love you so desire.

Today’s dose of "Vitamin D" is dedicated to accepting when it's time to let go. How often do you find yourself holding on to something because you’re used to it? Whether it be a job… a relationship… old friendships… bad habits… whatever it is. What are you holding on to that is not serving in the betterment of you?
In life… we often find ourselves caught in a limbo of holding onto an old thing while expecting a new thing. You want to grow at your job, but there’s no room for growth, yet you stay there because you’re comfortable. You’re in a relationship and you’re miserable, yet you stay there because you’re used to it. Or perhaps... that old childhood friend whom you’ve outgrown, but you still stay in contact with because you’ve been through so much together. Why is that? Why is it that you’re holding onto something that no longer serves you? It’s time to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
If you’re expecting a new thing, it’s time to do a new thing. Take note from 25-year-old British singer/songwriter Tiana Major9’s hit song “Same Space” she sings, “How we gonna look for different results in the same space? oh how if we’re in the same space?” So my question for you is: “How?” How do you expect to grow... to be happy... to flourish if you’re staying in the same space that’s holding you back.
You cannot heal in the same space you were damaged in. Are you hearing me? You cannot hope for things to get better in the same space that hurt you. What no longer serves you no longer deserves you. Holding on to the past causes you to miss out on what's present. How are you gonna move forward while looking back? You need to let that job go, that relationship go, that old friendship go and whatever else isn't serving in the betterment of you... go!
Ask yourself this, “How much do I love me? How much am I invested in my own happiness? My peace of mind? My existence?” If you don’t like who, what, where you are… change it. Make the decision and say, “I'm not doing this anymore.” The decision is yours. you just gotta make the choice.

Today’s dose of “Vitamin D” is dedicated to loving yourself. What does loving yourself look like? What does it feel like? Can you truly say you love who you are and who you’ve become? Do your actions say it? Often times we blurt that we love ourselves, but if someone asked you to make a list of the people you love, how long would it take for you to name yourself?
In loving yourself, it takes for you to know who you truly are. Make time for that. Discover your likes and dislikes. Sit down and listen to the conversations that are going on in your mind. What are they saying? What do they mean?
Life and death are in the power of the tongue. Choose to speak life! Profess love all over yourself so that you may tap into your greatest potential. Take note from Hailee Steinfeld in her hit single, “Love Myself” and declare “I'm gonna put my body first and love me so hard 'til it hurts.” Because if there is one thing that you need to say to your reflection today, say "I’m gonna love myself." I love me... do you?

Today’s dose of "Vitamin D" is dedicated to self-care - to you loving on you. How do you feel? Overall, how do you feel about your life? Do you like who you are and who you are becoming? How’s your job? Your relationships? Your eating habits? Are you working out? How are you? Oftentimes, I feel as though we get so caught up in the “doing” of life that we forget to do a “check-in” and it shows when we are unhappy, feeling unfulfilled, unmotivated, just downright yucky and depressed…feeling like we are doing everything for everybody else and not ourselves and guess what? It ain’t nobody’s fault but our own. You’ve heard the saying time and time again, “check yourself before you wreck yourself,” aka show yourself some love. aka show yourself some self-care, some self-love.
In the hit song, “Self Care” by Florida native Savannah Cristina, the 24-year-old songstress belts, "I gotta put myself in the front. Know what I want.” Let me ask you something, "do you know what you want?" Have you taken time to figure out what you want and who you are? If not, what are you waiting on? How do you think you are going to get out of this vicious cycle of complacency, unfulfillment... depression... anything that doesn't serve in the betterment of you. Look... we're here to live our best lives. On purpose and for a purpose. You, me, us can't afford to go through life not knowing who we are and what we want…that ain’t self-care and that sure isn’t self-love. How is somebody else going to love you when you don’t even know how to love yourself? How is somebody else supposed to know how to treat you and you don’t even know how to treat yourself? Hello somebody.
I want you to take note from Savannah Cristina. The next time you look in the mirror and say, “I gotta be fine by myself, I'm taking my time, I'm doing this right.” Yup, because you deserve it. That’s self-care. That’s self-love!
That’s it for your dose of “Vitamin D.” Be sure to follow me on all social media @dawndaispeaks and until next time... always remember, "YOU are your greatest asset."
