The act of demeaning people is a bad personality trait, and it’s impossible to inspire others if you are not inspired yourself. It goes without saying inspired teaching requires consistent, positive attitudes and actions.

Willpower Isn’t One Thing, It’s Three:
1. One part of willpower concerns the ability to do what is disagreeable,
2. Another part concerns willingness to not do something, and
3. A final part concerns knowing what you truly want in the first place.
These are, in short, your will-to, will-not-to, and want-to powers.
The first has to do with desires and aversions …. The second, with cases of choice and refusal, and, in general, with duty … the third with the avoidance of error and rashness in judgment (III.2, 2–3).

Self mastery in service of others is the key to happiness, purpose, and fulfillment.
The cause of the effects in your life are your thoughts.
Choose the hard right over the easy wrong.
The short term pain of discipline always feels better than the long term pain of regret.
Spending time alone with God is the most important part of your day.
Be decisive, yet do so with the utmost tenderness.
Cultivate skillfulness in both action and non-action; in movement and stillness.
Be quick to listen, restrained in speech, and slow to anger.
Positive thoughts lead to positive words, which produce after their kind, resulting in positive experiences within every area of your life.--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/warriormindset/supportSend us Fan Mail

You can’t control how people act, but you can control what you accept from them.
1: Being talked down to.
2: Disrespect of your time.
3: Gossiping about others.
4: Manipulation.
5: Losing control of self-talk.

A short biography and review of the founder of Kyokushin Karate, a sect of karate known for their emphasis on physical conditioning and full-contact sparring.
*Oyama devised the 100-man kumite; which he went on to complete three times in a row over the course of three days.
He was known for his toughness. If you blocked one of his strikes you would in turn be injured. He was injured during the 3 day Kumite, but continued on, prepared for a 4th day, it’s rumored to not have happened because no-one else had the disire to continue with him…
*He was also known for fighting bulls bare-handed. He battled 52 bulls over the course of his lifetime, supposedly cutting off the horns of several and killing three instantly with one strike, earning him the nickname of “Godhand”.
*Later in life, Oyama suffered from Osteoarthritis. Despite his illness, he never gave up training. He held demonstrations of his karate, which included breaking objects.
*Oyama wrote over 80 books in Japanese.
*Oyama died at the age of 70 in Tokyo, Japan on April 26, 1994, due to lung cancer.

at does it mean to “detach” from a situation or person and how it can help you make better decisions in business and in life.
–
“You have to detach from those emotions—step back from them a little so they don’t control you. You can do that by taking a deep breath and telling yourself to calm down.”
― Jocko Willink
“Hey all I’ve listened to Jocko talk about detaching on his podcasts but am not understanding what he means by it. Can someone expand on what it means and give a few examples of what it would look like? Also if I’m prone to be emotional during certain situations how can I develop my degree of detachment? Thank you in advance!” link
Find a way to detach from your plan. Step away from your drafts. Have someone else review your outlines. If you’re leading others, remember that their feeling of ownership is important. You’ll always have that feeling, because you have other people looking to you to lead. Find opportunities for them to reinforce their own feelings of ownership. Link
DetachmentJocko realizes that everyone (including himself) tends to use faulty judgment when they let emotions and ego get in their way. By removing these variables, the correct decision becomes much clearer. A tactic he often uses is to “detach himself” from the situation to see things more clearly. For example, when faced with a difficult decision he will mentally remove himself from the situation and pretend he is only a bystander and offering unbiased advice. This will allow him to see the situation in a new light and oftentimes highlight where he went wrong.
Ever notice how you can give your friends great advice but it’s tougher for you to follow your own words of wisdom? That’s because you’re letting emotions and biases come into play when the decision affects you personally. Remove the emotions and make the correct decision.

Heather and I discuss the book written by Sensei Larry Isaac “Wherever the Path Leads”. A gripping and honest look at a martial artist making his way through the 60’s in America to Vietnam and training Karate in Okinawa.
—
