As my Ears heard the 9th to 11th measures of the "Footprints" (Wayne Shorter's "Adam's Apple" version)
F#m13b5 - F13#11 - E13#11 - A7#9b13 - Cm9
Upper Structure Triads - E/F#m7b5 - G/F7 - F#/E7 - F/A7 - Cm9
The third chord is much ambiguous, everybody got different versions (but for sure not the Old Real Book version)
Peter Martin said it's a E9 chord and with the melody of Bb on top (Concert Pitch of Tenor Saxophone by Wayne Shorter who is also the composer)
But when I heard the pianist Herbie Hancock played behind the Theme which repeated for 2 times, there he played somehow really like F# (or Gb) triad over E7 and I even didn't hear the b7th of E7 which is D, sounds F#/E to me though
And of course when Herbie took the piano solo, he "absolutely" played something else even like DMaj9/E, DMaj9 played like a fast arpeggios up and down, and next chorus something else again... haha
In memory of Wayne Shorter, the great artist and innovate composer of all time~
