HOUR ONE: A witch ends up in court – not as the defendant, but as the plaintiff! (The Litigating Witch Case) *** As you may have heard, nothing sells like sex and death. A Louisville brothel combined the two when someone dropped dead from poisoning. And the media absolutely loved it. (The Brothel Poisoning) *** While out jogging, Sherri Papini inexplicably disappeared. Twenty-two days later she returned home with a story so incredible it was hard to believe. In fact, some people still don’t believe her after all these years. (The Sherri Papini Mystery) *** When groups of sinister drones began hovering over homes in America’s Midwest, the FBI, US Air Force and 16 police forces set up a task force. But the drones vanished. And some wonder if they ever existed at all. (Attack of the Drones)

HOUR TWO: Sightings of a strange flying creature have been reported in Maryland since back in the 1700s… but even stranger is the unfortunate name this creature has been tagged with. What the heck is a Snallygaster? (What The Heck Is a Snallygaster?) *** They say it’s actually safer to fly than to drive on our country’s highways – and seeing how Chicagoans drive, I might tend to believe it. But when something goes wrong in your car, you don’t plunge 30,000 feet to your demise. And while it may be safer than driving, there are still a lot of things that can not go as planned and leave you screaming towards your doom. (Scares in the Skies) *** Of course, more can go wrong on a flight than just you dying – although that probably should be at the top of the list of things to avoid when traveling by air. But some other strange and bizarre things have also happened in the skies that might make you re-book your next vacation on a train instead. (It Happened Mid-Flight) *** In many cultures there are stories of screaming skulls haunting and terrorizing people. What could this phenomenon be, and are all the incidents related? (The Screaming Skulls)

IN THIS DARKIVE EPISODE WITH STORIES FROM JULY 2018: After the wealthy and prominent Blanche Monnier fell in love with a commoner, her mother did the unthinkable in an attempt to stop it – locking her in her room for years on end. (Locked Away For Falling In Love) *** A similar story to that of Blanche Monnier, is the imprisonment of Elisabeth Fritzl. She spent 24 years in captivity, confined to a makeshift cellar and repeatedly tortured - by her own father. (The Horrifying Case of Elisabeth Fritzl) *** Despite having one husband and two boyfriends over the years, Dolly Oesterreich continued to keep her secret lover hidden in her attic. (Lover In The Attic) *** TOP secret CIA files have emerged from the 1950s exposing the explosive truth about alien UFOs visiting earth. (Bigger Than Roswell) *** The Star Gate project. What was it, really? And did the government shut it down? (The Star Gate Project)

IN THIS DARKIVES EPISODE WITH STORIES FROM JULY 2018: Most people laugh at, or outright dismiss, the possibility that numerous hair-covered humanoids could exist in the U.K., and without ever getting caught or killed. But, some cases and tales do seem to stand the test of time. Although, many of the creatures that appear in such tales – which date back centuries – may not be what people assume them to be. (Wild Beast Or Wild Man?) *** A mother receives a call from her son – who had been killed by a drunk driver. (Call From The Other Side) *** On a brisk morning, with wind wafting off the Mississippi river across from St. Louis, Missouri, the men faced each other with pistols, at barely more than arm’s length. They’d come to shoot at one another because of an ‘offense against honor’. The place, or ‘field of honor’, was Bloody Island. (What Happened to Bloody Island?) *** A police officer and his daughter see a large creature jump completely over the two lane road they are driving down – a creature that ran on only two legs. (Leaping Bigfoot) *** Sleep paralysis is one of the most terrifying experiences one can have – and one person’s story takes the creeps to a new level. (Confronted by Insectoids) *** One monster that seems to be pervasive in the human psyche across numerous cultures is what we would call the werewolf (although each part of the world has their own name for it). And while most consider it simply a legendary cryptid, there have always been those who believe that these are not merely the product of our imagination, but very real monsters that lurk out beyond our understanding. And they take it very seriously in Haiti. (The Mysterious Werewolves of Haiti) *** Did you know that Laura Palmer's death on TV’s “Twin Peaks” was inspired by a real-life murder case? IN THIS EPISODE: It’s #ThrillerThursday – and we return to the Neverglades – possibly the most popular series I’ve ever narrated in Weird Darkness. “Lucid Dreams” is the seventh entry in the series, and while each story does stand on its own, the characters are the same and you might want to listen to the first six chapters in order to learn more about who the Inspector is, how the characters interact, etc. I’ll place a link in the show notes to take you to all of the preceding chapters, which are numbered so you will know the order in which to listen to them.

HOUR ONE: On January 1st, 1091, an army of the dead came to Normandy. For one priest, it would be a night that he would never forget. (The Medieval Walking Dead) *** Despite what we are led to believe from movies and television, cemeteries, graveyards, and churchyards, are actually quite peaceful places with no reason to be haunted anymore than any other plot of land. They are, in fact, meant to be resting places – not restless places. Repton Village chuchyard in Derbyshire apparently never received that memo. (The Ghosts of Repton) *** Office romances are nothing new. Sadly, neither is sexual harassment in the work place. And apparently in the 1800s, a forty-something boss could try to seduce a 15-year-old worker. And if you guessed that didn’t turn out well for anyone, you’d be right. (A Weight of Grief) *** Men, admired and emulated Camille Flammarion, and many a woman swooned over him. Which is kind of an odd thing if you think about it – seeing as the man was consumed by thoughts of death. (The Mystery of Death) *** What is it like after we die? Is there life after death? And can science ever get onboard with the idea despite testable evidence? (Life in the Afterlife)

HOUR TWO: Dubbed "the Oddfather" for his peculiar mannerisms and longstanding history of bizarre behaviour, Gigante was either genuinely mentally ill or the perpetrator of the longest legal charade in New York's history. (The Oddfather) *** A man wearing a ski mask broke into the home, and kidnapped 13-year-old Jayme, but only after murdering both of her parents in cold blood. But why was it done? Even the kidnapper/murderer says he doesn’t know why he did it. (A Murder Without Motive, a Kidnapping Without Cause) *** UFO researcher Raymond Fowler has been investigating UFO sightings and supposed abduction cases since the 1960s – but in his new book he shares what might be the ultimate story of an alien abduction. (The Ultimate Alien Abduction) *** Are changelings and doppelgangers real? You might choose to believe so after hearing about the strange disappearance of Pauline Picard. (The Disappearing of Pauline Picard) *** Plus, we’ll look at a few true first-hand accounts of people who have come across doppelgangers – and for them, it was a frightening experience. IN THIS DARKIVE EPISODE WITH STORIES FROM JUNE 2018: A young girl is lifted off the ground by a horrifying spirit, taken outside of her home, and then it tells her something even more horrifying than what she has already experienced. (“12:02”) *** What does it take to terrify a soldier? One woman in uniform finds out – while living in military housing. (“Haunted Military House”) *** Have you indulge in gossiping and talking badly behind peoples’ back? If so, be happy you were not living during the medieval period and the Renaissance. (The Mask Of Shame) *** When the Lake Shawnee Amusement Park opened in the 1920s, the owner knew nothing of its bloody past. (The Bloody History of Lake Shawnee Amusement Park) *** A young man who enjoys silently creeping to surprise others gets his own terrifying surprise when he accidentally sneaks up on something dark in his own basement.
