A number of people with autoimmune disease tend to get very self-critical and hard on themselves. Perhaps they have become traumatized and needed to work through those feelings that are eating at them internally. Bridging the relationship between disease and unexpressed emotions is Dr. Todd Nelson. He is a naturopathic doctor who has been practicing for more than 30 years and owns his own private practice in Lakewood Colorado. Contrary to what the western medical world believes, he saw where feeling and thinking can dramatically impact our physiology. That is why he urges everyone to take out those unexpressed emotions and speak their truth. Only then will self-care become high, resulting in pre-genetic dispositions to happen less. He also talks about how men in particular tend to keep up the façade of being tough all the time and that it is time to hold a space for them to be vulnerable.
