The big story of the WA grain harvest is the record size of 21 million tonnes, but it could have been even bigger, if it hadn't been for some severe frosts. John Nicoletti used to be WA's biggest grain grower, until 2019 when he sold his 200, 000 hectare portfolio of land, spread across the state's eastern wheatbelt, to the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company, in a deal worth an estimated $60 million. Since the sale of that property he's been on a farm spending spree through Beacon, 300 kilometres north east of Perth and Newdegate, almost 400 kilometres south east of Perth. Danny Thomas is senior director with LAWD, the real estate company handling the sale. He says the market is desperate for institutional scale assets and now is a good time to put the portfolio on the market.

Woolworths boss Brad Banducci has warned the supply disruptions affecting his company's supermarkets, and most others, will likely last at least another fortnight.
