There’s a common misconception that because I run multiple businesses, host two podcasts, consult with psychologists, and raise two young children, I must have endless energy. The truth is, I don’t. While I generally have a high work capacity, there are plenty of days when my energy is lower, my motivation disappears, and I simply don’t feel like working.
In this episode, I share the framework I use to evaluate those moments and decide what to do next. Because not every low-energy day is the same, sometimes it’s true exhaustion. Sometimes it’s stress, grief, or overwhelm. And sometimes it’s simply a lack of motivation. Learning the difference has helped me protect my energy, avoid therapist burnout, and make better decisions about how I spend my time.
In this episode, I discuss:
• How I evaluate my actual work capacity on difficult days
• Why understanding your limits is critical for preventing therapist burnout
• How I use AI as a thought partner when I have low energy days
• Why identifying the most important task can help preserve your work capacity
• The role of momentum in getting through low energy days
• How I use this framework as a form of personal expert guidance during stressful seasons
• What recurring low energy days might be trying to tell you about your health and business
• How protecting your energy helps reduce the risk of therapist burnout over time
If you’ve been struggling with low energy days, questioning your work capacity, or trying to avoid therapist burnout, this episode offers practical expert guidance for navigating those moments with more clarity, self-awareness, and compassion.
