In part 4 of the series on the Shadow I talk about the collective Shadow and why we need to work on our own internal pain before we can begin to heal the problems of the world that are external to us. The collective Shadow is becoming more apparent now as evidenced by the increasing awareness in society of racism, homophobia, misogyny, genocide, mistreating the planet, and all the other ills of mankind.
The ego hates change and will resist the external changes we are trying to create if we haven't already done our own work to train the ego.
Change is an internal process and more about what we let go of than what we grab onto.
We need to let life itself change us - recognize that life is always offering us new (and painful) opportunities to grow.
Next we must recognize that we are connected to all of life through our Shadow wounds, our broken hearts. Embrace the role of the wounded healer.
Use pain as fuel for creativity.
