The final episode of Season 2 is here and it's a festive feast! Dave takes us through Christmas traditions around the world including the man who missed the birth of Christ cos he needed a poo. There's also rollerblading. And more poo. Anyway, in Part 2, Dave has brought back Evolutionary Biologist, Simon Watt (he of Myers Suriname Toad fame) to discuss that most Christmas of miracles, the virgin birth. Is it real? Does it happen? And what exactly are Lesbian Lizards?
We'll be back in February 2023 with Season 3 and a MASSIVE ANNOUNCEMENT too! Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals!

Well, they said it would never happen. and by "they" we mean "Dave Moore".
But "they" were wrong. Queen of Dictionary Corner on Countdown, Susie Dent, is the guest on this week's podcast and she is brilliant.
Susie explains the rules of English that we know but we don't even know we know, the origin of the word "syphilis", why we say Zig Zag and not Zag Zig and why Shakespeare couldn't even spell his own name! If that's not enough, in part 1, Neil tells Dave about the 750-year-old Korean national treasure that war, insects and humidity couldn't destroy. Plus, it still works today! Did we mention Susie Dent is on the show?

We've learned that Dave can get quite obsessed. Sneakers, guitars, Coco Pops, things get added almost weekly. We can now include height on the list and that is why he has secured the talents of Dr.Eirini Marouli, the Associate Professor in Computational Biology at the William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London to tell us whether we're as tall now as we're ever gonna be. Her title is almost as impressive as her knowledge on the subject! Amongst the facts Dave brings us is the tale of the tallest man who ever lived and his absolutely enormous shoes!
We must pause at this point to apologise to any giraffes who listen to the podcast. It seems Neil has been waiting to "go off on one" about you and he does.
Enjoy!

Live Episode Alert!!!
WHY WE GET HUNGRY
Neil and Dave are delighted, not only to be recording a podcast in the same room for the first time, but also to be joined by an audience of enthusiastic Why Would You Tell Me That!? listeners in the Viking Theatre, Dublin.
To celebrate Science Week, the lads have done their first live podcast and who better to invite along than the brilliant Dr Lara Dungan, who gently walks the lads through ghrelin, the “hunger hormone”.
Why do we get hungry? When? Is ‘hanger’ real? Why does Dave get unnaturally excited by Coco Pops? Is white chocolate real chocolate? *
All will be revealed.

When Neil heard someone say that selective cattle breeding in the 18th Century affected Argentinian football, he just knew this was an episode waiting to happen. The fact that the person who uttered those words was one of the best sports journalists around made it even more important to pursue. Enter Jonathan Wilson, Guardian journalist, author and football expert. He explains to the lads how selective cattle breeding and a bull named Tarquin created Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi!

In this week's episode, Dave explains how Richard Branson did everything right with Virgin Cola but still failed to break into a market worth FIFTY BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR! Strategy Director at Eximo Marketing, Andi Jarvis, details the incredible lengths Coca Cola went to to make sure Branson experienced his biggest commercial failure ever.
A massive shout out to Ernie Smith, whose article inspired this episode:

Remember the map of the world on the wall at school? Well, it was wrong. In fact, probably every map you've ever seen is wrong.
In this episode, BBC presenter, geographer and author, Nicholas Crane, gives the lads the lowdown on the map that changed the world.
Neil also tells Dave about the statue that has more 1000 outfits and reveals the things you might see when you're out walking your weasel.*

This episode is gory! In fact, the lads are joined by Erika Engelhaupt, the author of an amazing book called Gory Details: Adventures from the Dark Side of Science. She has been drafted in by Dave to explain the science behind the mystery of why feet have been washing ashore in Vancouver for decades! She'll also answer the question, "Would your dog eat you if you died?" And Dave will explain why it rains fish, frogs and, once, some creamy white goo in 1969.

What would you do if you saw that happen? Well, that might depend on what group you're in. You see, you're in groups, some you know about and some you don't!
To decipher all of this, the lads chat to behavioural economist, Professor Pete Lunn, a man with more degrees than you can shake a stick at (Philosophy & Psychology, Neuroscience and Economics) about how we end up in the groups we do and how that identity might affect your actions.
Neil also tells Dave about the man who had to perform surgery on himself. It went better that you probably expect.
