When Jacci Perry-Ryan's father fell and broke a hip, she did what most adult children do. She hired a home healthcare agency, trusting that their caregivers had been thoroughly vetted. After all, they were taking care of vulnerable elder people.
But nothing could have been further from the truth. In fact, an unscrupulous caregiver manipulated her father out of thousands of dollars.
And this is a common occurrence. According to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, more than $37 billion dollars is stolen from seniors every year.
That's what inspired Jacci to build Care Givers | Scare Takers, a platform designed to help adult children hire quality caregivers for their parents and avoid the mistakes she made. She is also the author of Care Givers Scare Takers: Exposing Fraud in Senior Care.
On this episode of Wickedly Smart Women, Jacci joins Anjel to discuss the cultural shift from caring for our own elders to hiring caregivers and describe the challenge of caring for a parent when you work a full-time job.

Most of us are not aware of our own negative belief systems, but they greatly affect our everyday lives.

Male-dominated spaces often force non-promotable tasks onto women, where they're asked to do things that won't further their careers. Because of this, women are often conditioned to push past the point of being comfortable.
As high-achieving women, we have to ask ourselves, "What is the price I'm willing to pay to keep seeking external validation?"
Teresa Vozza is an Executive Coach and Leadership Authority for ambitious women professionals working in high-pressure organizations. With over 20 years of experience in executive leadership, Teresa left her C-Suite job at a global organization for a more transcendent life of entrepreneurship.
On this episode of Wickedly Smart Women, Teresa joins Anjel to share her journey in the corporate world and explain how she empowered herself to build her own business. As women, we know we want to grow and become better. In order to do so, we often ask each other, "What do you want?" when really, we should be asking, "How do you want to feel?"
